Of all the character classes available to play as in Aion: The Tower of Eternity, NCsoft’s amazing new online RPG, the mysterious Spiritmaster is one of the most intriguing. Using powerful magics derived from the forces of nature, Spiritmasters will find themselves an integral part of any adventuring party due to their ability to summon and control fierce creatures based on the four cardinal elements of Earth, Fire, Wind and Water.
The Spiritmaster’s chief responsibility is to summon and control elemental spirits, powerful forms of nature incarnate. This is done through a series of specific commands, such as attack and defend, that can be given via a simple onscreen control system. Other, more specialised and yet to be revealed commands exist beyond these basic controls, with each form of elemental spirit having its own unique skills and abilities.
The challenge for the Spiritmaster comes from recognising which element to call on at any given time. Earth spirits are strong in defence abilities, Fire spirits specialise in ranged attacks, Water spirits concentrate on healing powers while Wind spirits are best utilised in melee attacks. While it’s not possible to control different types of elemental spirits at the same time – Spiritmaster’s cannot control both an Earth and Water spirit simultaneously, for instance – by summoning the correct spirit for the situation in hand, Spiritmasters have the power to turn even the most desperate battles into a complete rout of the enemy. A situation that could prove immensely useful when adventurers come up against some of the more powerful rogue elemental spirits that wander Aion’s immense and incredibly detailed game world.
Aion: The Tower of Eternity is set to begin closed Beta-testing early 2008 and will release later in the year.

Not to sound like a dock or like im in flame mode. I cant see any fun in pay to play asian mmo's. Have people not learned anything from L2? My point is that asian gold farming rings infest these games making it very hard to play. These gold farming rings infest quest areas either afk botting or farming in groups only to chase you away, they seem to think that you are stealing from them while they steal profits from nc. These asian gold farming rings fill all chat channels up with gold for sale spam, power leveling spam and items spam all for real life cash. If a game is so item - gear based, level based, quest driven and such a grind its a place for gold farming rings to infest. If you think nc can do anything to stop them, you are dead wrong.
I agree with mostly what you say but you can't deny the fact that the Lineage series of games has been a huge success. I think most times that developers don't even consider gold farming when designing games honestly. They never think like gamers do. Though Aion looks like it is going to be a nice game.
I'm curious why the final form of the fire spirit, which is supposed to be a ranged class, has a sword and shield
As for the comments above, I have yet to find ANY MMO that doesn't have gold selling in it. Even big ones like Blizzard have spent years trying to stop every single loophole that farmers find to advertise and farm their wares, yet it doesn't stop.
Sorry, but gold farmers are everywhere, not just asian mmo's. Lord of the rings, woW, Vanguard, EQII, the list goes on.
And Lineage 2, though it does have it's problems, is a step above most Asian grinders. It doesn't have that "junky" feel that many of them do.
I feel that because it is pay to play, that it is held to a higher standard.
As far as Aion goes, it is a triple A title and will be several steps above "Asian Grinders". Also, if you do some checking you will realize it is actually not an Asian Grinder!
As far as the videos, Water and EArth look very good... Fire needs to be redone. That sword doesn't really look good and the avatar is not really to the level of the other two.
MMORPG.com, why must you insult your readers by creating vacuous non-news articles and attaching ages-old videos to them to trick people into clicking?
Cheap tactics for a slow news week.
Umm, I've quite enjoyed them. The more I get to see of Aion the more interested I become.
I love the videos but yeah they are rather old.. I wish ncsoft would release some new ones for our viewing pleasure. As to the comment about paying to play Asian mmos, well the same could be said about most US mmo's. Why pay to play something that doesnt provide you with a level of entertainment you would want for $15 a month. I would never pay to play WoW, or DAoC, or TR as they are boring as hell to me. Im enjoying playing Rappelz and EQ2 right now and if Rappelz had a monthly charge I would gladly pay it as its entertaining. If Aion is as entertaining as it looks I will definitely pay the monthly fee.
Yeah, i'd like to see the closed beta period ending video in here, it's damn beautiful, way more new than these ones, and it's official. Plus the 20 closed beta official screenshots that are pretty good ^^'
There MAY have been a mix up with the Fire elements. It was stated on Aionsource.com some where cant exactly remember.
