Awesome, as all videos are, but still can't wait to play

sweetness loved it.. it made me a bit more excited to play (which I will be.) Still I feel like GW2 is overshadowing FFXIV (at least for me) but I'm still very happy to play FFXIV.

How can people be getting worked up over the appearance of this trailer? It's a trailer. Very little appears to be real in-game video.

You see most of what is in that trailer, even if its not gameplay, as cinematics unfolding the storyline during gameplay. I know its hard concept to grasp since omgwtfbbq awesome other mainstream MMO's don't do it (except for FF11) but FF14 actually has sweet cutscenes to accompany big deal stuff going on.

Yes, everything but the guildleves scene is in-game and in-engine.

Rather, I should say, everything until 1:50.

A lot of you dont realize that ALL OF THAT Is in game video, none of that is rendered.

It looks like if you're into anime, turn-based combat games, this would be as close to Nirvana as you can get. For what it is, it sure looks nice.

I think I'm going to be very very pleased with the cinimatics in this game, great song too.   Long time gamer since commadore 64,  this is the direction videogames need to take these days, most games lack the imagination in cinematics that final fantasy knows how to capture.   A+    in cinematics in my book.

Amazing cinematic indeed. I really like the art design of this game, for the most part and the graphics are very beautiful. So it will have that for sure.

But it only had what, like 10 seconds of actual game play in there, which I think is for good reason? You ask me, why did they bother with putting any in there at all? But they did and for a trailer like this you'd think they'd pick 10 secs of the best game play they had. Well the game play they did show didn't seem all that great to me. And I think that's because the game play for FF14 is going to suck, I'm sad to say.

Eveything I've seen game play wise for FF14 just seems okay at best, including what was in this trailer. Why they even bothered to throw in any game play at all, who knows. Maybe they're actually being honest and saying, "yes the game will be one of the most beautiful MMORPGs ever made and the game play will be, well, okay too".

I mean, I could be wrong, I'm just going off videos I've seen anyway, but all that I have seen just makes me think that the game play of FF14 is a step backward, insted of forward, unlike what the rest of the guys are doing for their next gen MMOs. I suppose we'll find out in a few days, I know I'll be there, in hopes to prove myself wrong...

I don't know what people expect from FF. It will never be action game. gameplay looked ok. A group of heroes fighting big bad enemies. It looked flashy and that's all. every FF was like that and it was fun. I didn;t expect 14 to be any different when it comes to combat to be honest. Staying to the roots isn't always a bad thing imo.

I like the fact that at 2:30, he JUMPS, eventhough it's impossible in the game..Anyway, nice trailer, looks great. Can't wait for the open beta!

the combat system in final fantasy games is terribly boring.

this video already confirmed at the end they are sticking with the "ok its my turn to hit you, just stand right there and dont do anything, then it will be your turn to hit me and i'll stand still for you" combat system.

i played FFXI on pc and the 360.... was lame on the pc... worked well on my 360 with the thumb pad keyboard...

combat looks similar/a staple of the style they are sticking with,the clips I have seen do remind me of  FF11. I actually liked the style of combat they had, and the story lines are fantastic,witch these days a lot of mmo's are missing. Looks to me like FF14  & Sw:tor are going back, and putting in the R P G back into MMOrpg. I like many of you all have a good amount of mmos under my belt and after 5years or so of playing them, not matter if they are 6month-6years old they are all starting to be to a like/similar. Play MMOa play MMOc Play MMOe not much diff besides a few letters inbetween.

Honestly I love it and I've already preordered the game but the trailers never get me nearly as much as TORs, Perhaps its because I'm a Star Wars die hard fan, or perhaps its because the videos in the FF14 lineup are a bit... cryptic at best. They don't reveal much story and that just dosn't sit well with me. But I know the game will be great and I'm looking forward to playing it during the Collectors Eddition extra few days. Turned based combat is beyond retarded and it's one of the reasons I could never get into any of the FF MMOs. How the fuck can it work in pvp, how can anyone like turned based combat in an MMO?

I love the whole concept of this game, the combat system, the characters (even the gay little midgets, I might even play as one and call her Vivian.) I love the environment and I'll probably enjoy the hell out of the cut scenes.

So obviously this game fits in a demographic of people that they will enjoy.

When I see "special" comments that try to break people's spirits, well... it only makes them stronger. There isn't any reason to not try an open beta therefore there is no reason to harp on opinions that you could easily base on yourself.

To those questioning the trailer... That is at least 95% in-game footage. There's a couple scenes that *might* be pre-rendered, but then they could be in-game as well. The difference in quality is so slight that it could go either way.

That is actually how the game looks, though and - true to the FF franchise - cinematic cut-scenes is a very big part of how the stories unfold, with you character actually part of them.

It's funny that people praise Blizzard for putting more in-game cinematics in WoW as something new and innovative, when FFXI has been doing that since day one. Guess it all comes down to what your experience is limited to.

Someone mentioned the cards that looked like Tetra-Master... Actually, those are Guild Leve cards. Each Leve is represented by a card, with an illustration depicting what type of task it is. The portion in the video is basically the character choosing from a selection of Guildleves, as players will in-game (though they're not spread out on a table in-game :-p).

considering only be able to play for 15h getting xp. i maybe will change my mind and wont take a look in it. leveling in the last part was tough like in no other mmo. including this cap? i say: no thanks.

seriously i played it all, and even the latest games i play.. Age of conan over two years now again EVE. and old games like Anarchy online and all started with Meridian 59 and later Everquest and Ultima Online - I still say, even when i'm not playing it anymore for over 4years now: WORLD OF WARCRAFT was the most innovative MMO ever! ofc it had it's time, its over. But GRIND-MMOs? or still Asian-MMOs or how you non-Euros call it "art-Style"? especially art style is only popular in the asian region. This has no future and i'm glad it doesnt.

We want an innovative MMO again! Totally new LORE, Gameplay feeling, Look, everything! COME ON! Or i will finally decide to create my own.

World of Warcraft was not innovative, absolutely NOTHING WoW did was a first. They just packaged a lot of small things together and marketed the crap out of the game. WoW blows then, and it still blows. The grand majority of people you talk to and ask 'Who do you play WoW' the only answer you will EVER get is 'Most of my friends play it'. I have never once heard someone say 'The game is awesome, The game looks/plays great, etc etc' - it is ALWAYS 'so and so plays it'.

Who the hell is saying XIV is turn based combat?  And people who believe that have to be mentally retarded.

It's not turn based, nor is it twitch based. It's in the middle. There won't be much moving around while in combat due to the game mechanics rooting you in place for skills and abilities, which is by biggest beef with it.

I playing open beta and this game have amazing graphics and music.  I like the storry and fight system. But UI is horrible. Dont need PvP on this game. This is realy relax :)   I will buy this game to SWOTR online release.

They always seem to mix beautiful games with beautiful soundtracks successfully.

I got to try this at PAX last weekend and the game actually does look like the trailer.   It was amazingly beautiful.  Unfortunately at least in the demo they were  showing it still acts like trying to drive a boat on regular PC controls. 

Still if its the only true PVE around I may try it.

looks great ^^ and got into open beta... I just need to download it, stupid peer to peer download fails... it needed 26 hours and when it was a 8,8%; 'timer ran out, please shut down and try again'. /Ragequit :P But I'll try again... after seeing this =D
