This game from Square Enix is the first MMORPG in the thriving and popular Final Fantasy franchise. Available for the PC, the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 2, the game takes place twenty years after “the great and terrible Crystal War engulfed all the lands of Vana’diel.” The game makes use of many systems, controls and a UI that while unfamiliar at first to some MMO players, should cause no problems for Final Fantasy fans. The game is deep -- thousands of quests are available as well as storyline-based missions, which are the means of advancement. There have been several expansions, adding to the tale in progress.
The next add-on scenario, "A Moogle Kupo d'Etat - Evil in Small Doses" will be available for pre-purchase on July 5th, 2009. The add-on will run you $9.99 in the US, £7.99 in the UK and €9.99 in the rest of Europe. The add-on introduces a new story arc, and will require players to have "Rise of the Zilart" installed first in order to play.
The next update to Final Fantasy XI goes live this July. The upcoming update will progress the Wings of the Goddess missions, expand to new areas, adjust jobs, and more.
