David Allen, President of developer Quest Online, the people behind Alganon, issued his final letter to the community for 2009 last week, and in it he announced the game's first major update, dubbed "The Dawning."
The update, which is scheduled for a Q1 2010 release, will feature new instances, a vastly enhanced newbie experience to introduce players to the lore and history of the game as well as a number of the game's more distinctive features, a Consignment house, and of course numerous bug fixes and tweaks.
Allen also announced that the team has completed the core LUA add-on system for Alganon, which should allow players to create custom game interfaces sometime this month. He also looks ahead to the future with other planned features such as the Library Scrying system, voluntary and area specific PvP, kudos, domain control, new races, domains, and achievements.
Returning to the present, Allen also re-iterates his request for patience as the team tackles the game's various issues, asking us to remind ourselves what "DAoC, WoW, EQ2 and other MMOGs were like when they released, and look at what they evolved into."
