EverQuest II News - Sentinel's Fate Now Live!

Posted by Michael Bitton on Feb 16, 2010  | 22 comments in our forums

Sentinel's Fate, the latest expansion to EverQuest II, is now live...sort of. If you're waiting on the digital version you're going to have to wait until February 23rd to snag the new expansion.

Sentinel's Fate, the sixth expansion for EverQuest II, sends players to the lands of Odus where 400 new quests, 12 new dungeons, and over 2,000 new items await them. This latest expansion also brings with it another level cap raise to level 90.

You can view the full patch notes for Sentinel's Fate/Game Update 55 here.

To buy Sentinel's Fate, or for a rundown of the various versions that are available, go here.

UPDATE: A new launch trailer for Sentinel's Fate is now available.

Also, be sure to check out EverQuest II gallery, as it has received a massive update of over 130 screenshots from the new expansion!

Not interested, Wow does it better

But if they make Everquest 3 as it is supposed to be (a real RPG), I might play another SoE game once again.

Is there anything in that expansion NOT geared toward end game players at all ?  I was thinking of coming back, i have a mid 40's character but if everything in that expansion is for level 90, i'll pass, especially with the fact that the free month is ONLY for new accounts.

^^ this

eq2  community is so small now and so top heavy that anyone new starting or who left before maxing level shouldnt even bother unless you only like to solo or you BYOG.

Heres how you win if you want to play this again or for the first time.

Create an account

Buy expansion

Refer-A-Friend yourself

Buy another copy of the expansion

Level @ 300% exp bonus and get to 90 fast as shit.

Play end game content.

The End.

Otherwise no, starting this game now probably pretty pointless.  As with all of their previous expansions, there will be an influx of new players or level 1 characters started that will most likely quickly die off.  There are certain level gaps to where if you cant solo/arent 2 boxing, it's frustrating and annoying to keep moving forward.

EQ3 PLZ.

No, some wowers are just angry because they only get a expansion every 5 years...

Not correct.
I played EQ2 for 4 years, then when they released the WoW expansion (RoK), I left and played WoW instead, which I enjoyed for a couple of years, not because I particularly liked it, but because there was nothing better (since SoE ruined my favourite game).

On a more constructive note, SoE needs to revive all the lower zones, make them more entertaining for the new players instead of speeding up their leveling curve.
EQ2 is a dead game until lvl 79.
They need to re-write all the low level quests and re-design all the loot tables of lower zones

In the next GU in May, they will be introducing Halas. This will be for levels 1 - 20.

Its a matter of perspective. Naturally you're going to get little snippets of opinions, but if you look around and read a few post you'll get a better idea.

Wait, the retail copies actually released before digital?

What kind of sick regressive move is SOE trying to make?

I actually liked EQ2 very much. But...I cannot stand the lame crafting system so I was forced to quit since crafting is a big part of my play style.

Its great )

I am back after three years and wished I never left. Sure its a bit lonely low lvl but I like to solo and try different characters. You can always call on a guildee for help or company. The crafting is great with all players owning furnishing homes. I have no problem making lots off gold/platinum with low lvl characters. There is just so much content and polish playing a five year old game -  which looks fantastic still.

I like EQ2 lots, but I am playing WoW right now. The only real reason is its much easier to get grps. If EQ2 cut back on servers so it was easy to get a grp I would be interested as EQ games just have such great community.

I just played for a month or so and I can tell you that the lower areas are bumping with people.  However, couldn't take having like 30 skills my level 10 that seemed to all do the same thing.  Graphics are just too plastic looking.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I think EQ2 has one of the best crafting systems out there.  You actually get involved instead of clicking a button and you automatically make an item.

Very ture sir. I think best crafting systems in mmorpg are as follow:

1. SWG easily the best crafting and money system ever. I loved how you had shops not much on AH, and also how certin hides and what not would only come into season once ever 2 months. Player ran cities anywhere.  It was just so deep.

2. I agree EQ2 is a great crafting system. For one like you said you have to be involved you can not just walk away. Also EQ2 just has so much content you would never run out of things to make.

3. Last but for sure not least is a new kid on the block Aion. They did the most simple thing that I have not seen anyone else do give xp for crafting and gathering. This made crafting feel much more rewarding when trying to lvl. It also was a pretty deep system right out of the box.

Bottom line Chukamonga I think we are cut from the same cloth. However with all this said I am still playing WoW and have played WoW off and on since release. They just have so much money, and anyone who tells you money does not make a mmo is crazy. WoW has been able to take so many ideas from others, and improve on it. Also this year they to my suprise they did something of their own no one else has. The new dungeon finding system is the best grouping tool in any mmorpg ever. I am not going to go into it very deep, but lets just say if your healer or tank 8am or 8pm you will not have to lfg for more then 4min. All other classes no more then 10-15min any time of day or night about.
