EverQuest II News - Shadow Odyssey Preview

Posted by Keith Cross on Oct 27, 2008  | 12 comments in our forums

The folks at EverQuest II have prepared a preview of Mistmoore: Evernight Abbey and Ravenscale Repository, new areas that will be playable in The Shadow Odyssey.

Mistmoore is the home of the vampire lord, Mayong Mistmoore. Safely ensconced in his palace, Mayong spreads the vampiric curse throughout Norrath.

Evernight Abbey houses Mayong's most trusted vampire minions, the Libant.

The Libant are Mayong's secret police force. Amongst their other duties in the service of Mistmoore, they maintain a large mausoleum for rest, as well as ritual chambers to accept new candidates.

And other game companies don't?

Please people get a life, then this eternal SOE bashing crap. It's getting old.

Cheers

Yes of course other companies do it, but SoE is on a league on its own.
Considering they still use the same armor models they used since 2004.
At least other games add new armor at every expansion, even if they recycle something.
What SoE does it s create many new zones using old models, and that's it.

They look better than WoW and at par with LOTRO.

Avoiding adding new armor is just shows how cheap SOE is.    SOE deserves every bit of criticism they get, they have not done anything noteworthy in ages on any of their current titles.

The day people stop confusing Graphics with Art there will be peace on earth and much joy in the Universe ...

Still putting out your Opinions as fact aye Ste2000. kinda like the BS statement you made in another post that the majority of WoW players play more then 30 hours a week. (Which was easy enough to disprove and show you just pull your numbers out of thin air) Since you don't and haven't played EQ2 in some time how would you know what armors currently it has? I can prove they don't have just the same armors they had in 2004, they have added tons, sorry you are out of the loop and pretty much clueless again.

please stop trolling or at least once agaion if your gonna make claims at least have alittle fact to back your claims up instead of just making false statements as fact.

I am happy with the armor models, all that matters is the stats on em anyway, I would most definatly choose more stuff to do in game than a graphical overhaul of the armor, to me the armor has a realistic feal to it, you csan change it to the soga models for a different armor look, or loot some of the asian looking stuff from the xpac the fallen dynasty and put it as yer display armor, I did see some new looking helms i thought on a manakin, and i dont think the nda is lifted to talk about other stuff yet from the beta of the expansion.

I have to agree, they reuse too many things. Out of every zone preview I've seen maybe 2 new NPC models. An expansion should be full of new NPCs and not reusing old zones. Mayongs new lair type zone is just a copy and paste of mistmoore castle which will be from 2 expansions ago. They said it was too hard to add new armor because of the skeletal models. They promised a skeletal revamp for 3 years to fix that problem then they said that was too hard.

I played eq2 for a long time and stopped playing fulltime when I got my epic weapon (post rok obviously). I have been checking out every major game update since I stopped playing seriously. I am just looking for reasons to play it again and have as much fun as I did in the past but it wasn't there after RoK and doing the 1000 boring solo quests. I hope TSO brings that love I had for eq2 for years back to the table but I am not getting my hopes up high.

I can only remember a couple new armors per expansion per class and they were usually the class sets. I loved my shadowknight but there was never any cool crusader type armor and the class sucks. I've seen some hope that they will be better come TSO. I hope theyre is lots of new player armor in this expansion. I am happy that SoE finally hired a graphics programmer for EQ2, that is a huge start because from what he has posted, he seems to know his stuff. He also started to add dual core "support" right off the bat so I hope for shadows being moved to the GPU eventually.
