EverQuest II News - Cursed Zones Revealed

Posted by Keith Cross on Oct 07, 2008  | 10 comments in our forums

The folks at EverQuest II have revealed details on several cursed zones that will be a part of the Shadow Odyssey, the next expansion for EverQuest II.

As you know, Befallen was meant to be a mighty bastion of light within the Commonlands. The Order of Marr's Fist intended for their fortress to combat the orcs and bandits that were overrunning the region.

Befallen, already struggling to maintain its hold and purpose in the Commonlands, was brought low by the very man they thought to be their savior. Gynok Moltor, the Qeynos guardsman, who was cursed by the gnoll shaman, Oppola, destroyed the fortress while in the grip of madness brought on by his curse.

Finally?
Every expansion we get 10-20 new zones, yet there are still the same armor models of 4 years ago..........so screw new zones give us new kickass good looking armor.

And if people still think that look and customisation is not important for a player, they are delusional.

At least they are trying to work on the graphics engine.. something that should of been done so long ago. Who knows maybe armor may be somewhere on that list of things to do

I see they finally added dual core CPU support but it is not true dual core and it only adds animations to the 2nd core. They need to offload shadows to the GPU next. But other then the dual core thing, I haven't seen an official stance on work on the graphics engine. If I missed it, could you please show me where they said that as that is one of my biggest complaints about the game.

And I agree with STE, everything looks the same. I have only seen ONE or TWO new NPCs in all of the released screenshots for the Shadow Odyssey where as i've seen 20 of the same NPCs we've been killing for the past 4 years.

Well, they did show a revamped human with the new character model on the SOE fan faire... 3 Years ago...

The only ones who uses the new model now are the 2 races from the last expansion, if SOE ever get the work done then the armours would stretch to fit most races which mean they won't have to make 2 different armour skins for every race like now.

Smedley have said a year ago or so that it is still in work but somehow I doubt it, been in work since launch :(

They were going to do a skeletal revamp.  that was scrapped because it was not doable.  They can always whip out new zones and such... but armor..that is what i really want to see :(  Can only take so many different colors of the same armor :(

They promised the skeletal revamp for 3 years. When did they say it was not doable? Why did they lead us on for 3 years. Anytime anyone EVER asked about new armors and such they brought up the excuse that they had to design each armor for so many different character models and this supposed skeletal revamp would fix that. They used that as a crutch for so long, I should have known it was vaporware.
