The folks from Sony Online Entertainment have sent us along these exclusive architectural images of the guild halls that are coming to EverQuest II.
The Guild Halls are under construction in EverQuest II as is evident by these exclusive blue print schematics secured by mmorpg.com!
The call has gone out that the previously uninhabited islands that lay just a few hundred yards out to the west of Antonica and east of the Commonlands can now be purchased by qualified guilds and built up into guild hall territories. These new halls will serve the dual purpose as headquarters of the powerful city guilds as well as a line of defense from coastal invasion.
More information on Guild Halls to follow soon!
Check it out here.
what are these coAstal invasions there talking about?
Will probably have something to do with sertain Aquatic creatures that make their appearance in the upcoming expansion.
Well WHOOPEE TEE DO...guild halls will cure all teh problems that run rampant in EQ2...
How about fixing the broken and incomplete content...How about using some imagination when developing new expansions instead of cloning an expansion from a 10 year old game?
{ Mod Edit }
Well, guildhalls are nice, have been talk about them for years. but the graphical revamp with the character models, some work to uppgrade the older content and multicore support is what EQ2 really needs.
The game is beutiful in it self but it's not using effects like shadows, light and fog enough. With a little work the game could become really beutiful.
But I havnt played since may, I thought Kunark was boring, Will consider giving it a month after the next expansion though. it's funny, I like Faydwer a lot but Kunark got boring fast.
Really, the best thing imho is just start on a EQ3, with Verant heading it up, or is that team still together?
It only took them 4 years to impliment this feature.
mmo companies only make an effort when their game is in trouble.
EQ3?? LOL and what would the premise of EQ3 be? Let me guess...some super gnome tinkers a rocket ship that can make it out of orbit and they land on one of the other planets in the solar system to find it's inhabited by the same orcs gnolls and undead that are found on Norrath...More cut and paste content....more really bad itemization, more nerfs to the lowest common denominator, more lies about expansions and adventure packs and more money to play.....
No thank you....SOE needs to do some serious work on it's reputation before they should release anything...Between the broken promises and the cheating they have a lot to answer for...
Wow you really hit the nail on the head!......

Also SOE has hired a full time graphically engineer to help with the performance issues.

You pretty much described about 85% of the MMO's out there. (If not more)
We all know you dont like SOE but why make fun of the ppl who enjoy playing it. Isnt that the whole point of playing games... playing stuff you like.
No one is forcing you to play or even to read anything dealing with SOE. I'm pretty sure everyone on the EQ2 boards knows you are nothing but a troll so you words have little meaning behind them.
When i try out a game and dont like it..... i dont spend the next few months or even year trolling their forums bashing the game..... i move on and try to find something i do enjoy playing.
Every MMO has their problems not just EQ2..... and every MMO will have their haters and trolls.
And as a side note i will not be replying to anything else on this thread....dont feel like getting into a meaningless war of words.

Perhaps that does hit the nail on the head, but how exactly would they rebuild their reputation without releasing a new game? Trying to rebuild your rep on games that have been bashed and trashed would be pointless. Even if SOE did all the things you listed to improve EQ2 (which I totally agree with) it would make little difference. Sure some would come back, but most have moved on.
I also agree that the guild halls are a day late and a dollar short.
Just like the housing in WoW.
Oh no wait......there is no housing in WoW. Somehow that mysteriously dissapeared from their radar.
This is what I mean by not listening to the players. We asked for these guild halls 3 years ago and just now they are getting around to it. They are also copying stuff from WOTLK and WAR, go ahead jump on that band wagon. EQ2 PVP was the worst.
and not to mention how rediculously expensive or hard to get these halls will be, only a couple guilds are likely to EVER see them at all.
Just like the housing in WoW.
Oh no wait......there is no housing in WoW. Somehow that mysteriously dissapeared from their radar.
hehe no housing needed in that game, maybe a water park or roller coaster
4 years too late.
Anyway, since EQ2 is now a poor clone of WoW, when shall we espect the Battle Grounds?
Ok maybe I've been too harsh on SoE, after all WoW doesn't have the Guild Halls, therefore EQ2 rocks................not

There NEVER was meant to be housing in WoW. Get your facts straight before posting.
Ok SOE heres a small list of things to do to help fix the problems with EQ2 instead of you ignoring them and working on bullshit all the time.
1. New character models to replace the plastic shits EQ2 has got now.
2. Remodel the older zones so they are less Barren and ugly
3. Open up the cities or atleats make it so you don't have to go through loading screens all the time while in them
4. Ditch bells and put something in place so you move around in a seemless world like in WOW
5. reduce the class numbers and work on making them more unique and fun like WOW instead of 20 odd boring ones
6. make PVP GOOD
7. rework the whole crap combat system.
8. Stop trying to change the art style into WOW because you just can't do it. EQ2 had a nice look going in the old game but the new expansions look like shit because of this new direction you're going in.
Oh yeh and streamline the starting player experience because atm they start in too many different locations and none of them are good. The one goo thing the starting experience EQ2 had going for it was on the boat and you got rid of that :\
I cant wait, eq2 has become my favorite fantasy mmo, with the opening of a new zone soon, and the revamp of everfrost, this year is going to be a greAT year for ME in eq2.
LOL, what is everyone getting there panties in a bunch for, this is one of the best fantasy mmo's out atm, every other mmo of this genre thats out now seems boring to me, i played just about every one of them and always come back to eq2.
I just want to jump in and say that EQ2 is a GREAT game. There are a lot of refinements, and its PvE is currently the best in the market IMO. Some may contend that LotRO has better PvE, but EQ2 grouping and raiding feels better to me.
Anyhow, EQ2 and LotRO have good PvE and if that is what you are looking for then give these games a shot. I know I'll resub up and get some gameplay out of the new expansion. Looking forward to WAR though, the PvP felt right to me, we'll see if thier PvE can replace the need for 2 subs.
They were, play Vanguard!
/sigh
What a total joke that they're only now getting around to guild halls. They were meant to be in for launch. Then the players were told they were coming soon during EQ2 first two years of retail. I find it amusing they should add them now when EQ2 already peaked and is now in decline.
Exactly,
When it comes to PvE then EverQuest 2 is just simply the best MMORPG out there at the moment.
And people complaining about PvP. PvP was never meant to be a mainstream feature in EQ2. They added it later by starting with Arena's in Desert of Flames of expansion and later adding PvP servers, because people were crying for it.
EverQuest 2 was always ment to be a PvE oriented game and it always will be.
If people want the best PvP in an MMORPG, then you will have to look at EVE Online, altho if you insist on a fantasy setting, then maybe WAR will be the answer to your PVP prayers.
Next to that SOE has recently hired a dedicated Graphics Programmer who has given the sole task to improve the engine to try add multi-core CPU support and by finally moving the heavy graphic tasks back to the GPU.
So finally soon we will be able to run EQ2 on max graphics at last :-) And when these optimisations are done, we will start to see snap-ons and improved character models as well.
People can say a lot about SOE, but they are still improving the game to make it better and better.
Next to EVE Online and LOTRO I cannot say that of many other MMO's to date.
Cheers

You are confusing the BEST PVE environment with the EASIEST PVE environment. EQ2 has not challenge, no death penalty, and is every bit as easy as WoW (maybe easier). EQ2 has become a second rate WoW clone. If you like EASY then I am sure you love EQ2..if you like an actual challenge in your game like most people, EQ2 is simply far to easy...When you can go from level 1 to level 80 and only die 11 times the game is just WAY to simple....I did that with my cunjorur and only died 16 times with my monk....in 80 levels...tha's just entirely too easy...

you never died in the city of myst? and damn dude, i think i died 11 times in one evening in chelsith, RE2 you will die in that zone, as well as shard of hate, what about sebillis or maidens, you died less than 11 times in any of those zones,
You are just so full of bull and made a complete fool out of yourself with this post.
Sure if you only do greyed out quests or wait till they are green for as many levels as possible, then sure the game is easy peasy. Like any other MMO.
Try do Heritage Quests or one of the many challenging other quests when they are still white or even yellow! Let's see if you can still easy peasy solo them without dying!
Yet alone Heroic Quests.
No one, exept a handful of hardcore vocalists want EverQuest 2 to be what it was at launch with excessive death penalties and endless corpse runs!
Give me a break man. People play a game for fun, not to be frustrating job!
EverQuest 2 is still going strong (numbers have always been fluctuating between 250k and 350k subs) and many people still enjoy the game, including my still very active guild.
Next to that EverQuest 2 has far more content then WoW, has far more features and complexity then WoW will ever have.
You really fail at trolling!
I have never been a SOE fanboi, as I hate them for what they did with SWG! But I am man enough to give them credit where due. And they do a great job with EverQuest 2.
They made some mistakes here and there and ROK expansion not being their best work, but overall there they are doing better and better now.
Cheers
To those of you who are considering giving EQ2 a try, it is a great game. It is not, nor has it ever been a WoW clone. The graphics are superior (that said, you do need a good machine to make it look that way and I agree this needs some work, especially for a four year old game), the game play is superior and it is not as easy as some here seem to think. It is certainly not "WoW" easy... It is the best PvE/quest game out there in my opinion and I have tried every major MMORPG to be released. I keep coming back to EQ2. (The PvP may be lacking, but then I am not a big fan of PvP.) There are, as I have recently realized, a lot of people in these forums who simply hate SOE and anything SOE puts out due to some old grudges.
Two years, too late if you ask me, that’s how long I been off EQ2, and I’m glad for it. I'll stick with CoA when they get the bugs out and performance issues out of the way.
TBH, the health of EQ2 PvP server experienced a severe dip when adventurer experience was forced on player kills. With top tier always plagued by over-powered Rogues and imbalanced itemization (favoring melee, extreme resists to magic have always been available end-game), many players made alternative characters to enjoy the variance in content, that of which was a lot more even-footed than in the other level ranges.
Having jumped to nerf this level-locking playstyle PvE players complained about on the forums, SOE blasted the longevity had throughout the expanse of their game's content, at least for PvP servers. Now, PvP in T2-T3 is sparse compared to what it had been, and T5-T7 zones, and PvP therein, is typically barren. SOE will never recoup their losses even one iota in this degree, as they've far too great an arrogant air about their aim for the game when what's done is done.
The reformation began from a PvE player who wouldn't accept the need to respawn elsewhere and find other areas to quest in aside from the beginning area, who then created a thread that amassed 55 pages. Game Update #41 was when EQ2 PvP happy land turned from its righteous, tumultuous stand -- about 6 & 1/2 months after that thread began.

dudes,Do you all still play EQ2?
If yes, then howcome? Most of the stuff I read here is all negative about EQ2....
"They dont do this, this sucks, that sucks they never do this, they clone this, they steal this"
Why do you still play it if all the stuff you say is negative? Are there any good things about EQ2?
I do agree, there could be some improvement in EQ2, but this game isnt much worse then any other mmorpg. Take WOW for example..
ive heard LOTS of people brag on how great this is compared to EQ2 and every other game..
so i tried it. and was totally shocked, I thought I was playinga childs game. the characters look way too fake. sure the graphics there are better then EQ, but thats it. SO what happened??? I deleted it a few min later, was just so disappointed . Of course, like EQ, this is only a taste and everyone has different tastes ( gott sei dank)
ps. the Guild Halls look awesom!!!!
Yes, i still play eq2, I like it as its not such a demanding game as I cant play games like that as i have kids, but it still has it's challenges in dungeons and raids. I am very pleased spirit shards are gone as well as the overly complicated crafting combines that used to make crafting boring and rediculously unessecarily stupid.
I wouldn't expect many avid EverQuest II players to visit MMORPG.com, as it has pretty much zero relevant, consistent coverage to us playas. Places like EQ2 Wiki, Allakhazam, or EQ2 Traders are those where the readership could look to find meaningful EQ2 audiences.
ya, it seems like mmorpg.com is a place where those that cant make it in EQ2 go and whine and complain about it.lol
i prefer Allakahazam or others too.
to be honest, EQ2 is the most life like, funnest, thing out at the moment,
Of course there is lots of room for inprovement, but what game couldnt use inprovements?
the only think I have to complain on EQ2 about is the epic weapons. Ever since they made the epic quest available and everyone can now get their epics, it took out the excitement in it. to much epic weapons now, they should reduce the amount or something.
No, MMORPG.com is a place that people go searching for a general overview of the MMOG world, MUDs and HTML-based options aside.
No game is perfect. EQ2 is definitely flawed in some aspects, but it got many other things right. So what if it took time to get around to guildhalls? It's not an essential part of the game. It's just nice to have.
EQ2 is one of the most flexible PvE games I've ever played, and it's still fairly true to the spirit of the original 'graphical MUD'. Either you hate that style of game or you love it. If you like WoW more, then play WoW. If you like EQ2 more, then play EQ2. From what I've seen of the population, it's fairly stable. There is enough of a playerbase that I bump into people when I'm online all the time, whether it's offpeak American hours (since I play on Crushbone) or onpeak. That's what matters to me if I want to group.
What I want to know is where these "WOW clone" comments are coming from? What is a clone? How?
To me some of these negative comments seem more like "bash the competition" or "I hate SOE so I'm gonna take it out on X" posts than anything actually worth paying attention to. Different strokes for different folks, so if EQ2 isn't your cup of tea then find a game that is. No game is perfect and I'll be the first to say it has issues, but in spite of it all I am still playing four years later.
Being overly harsh, critical or just plain trolling is just dumb.
