EverQuest II News - Living Legacy Ends July 31st

Posted by Keith Cross on Jul 29, 2008  | 9 comments in our forums

SOE has posted a reminder for players that the Living Legacy event that has allowed former EverQuest and EverQuest II players to return to the game, will come to an end on July 31st.

If you came back to the world of Norrath through the Living Legacy reactivation promotion that started in June, your free play period is about to end. Please don't forget to convert your free trial account to a monthly subscription by July 31, 2008 so you can continue to enjoy the rest of the Living Legacy summer events.

SOOOOOOOO,,,,,What about those who have remained loyal and never left? Where is our free stuff..? I am not talking about in game promotions or items...I mean stuff with REAL monetary value? You gave these NON LOYAL customers FREE expansions if they returned and yet those who have remained loyal and never left get bupkis?

SOE get your act together.....you are pissing off those who pay your salary..and as your dwindling subscription numbers should tell you, your player base is leaving because you have yet to keep your word on just about every issue...

You are spot on my friend.

The reason why SoE is in this situation is because it plays customers like they were a ping pong ball.
Sometimes they make angry one portion of their customer base, the next they upset the other.
They don't understand the meaning of "consistency" (regarding the way they overhaul their games....for the worse) and certainly they haven't a clue how to treat their customers.

Me, I played the living legend, but I am not going to come back, not even if the game is free, or if they  give the expansion for free.
I really don't wanna play WoW with plastic graphic thank you very much, the game as it is has 0 (zero) challenge.
They turned EQ2 in a casual game and tha's what they get........they have to beg ex customers to come back, in order to make some money.

Only way I could go back is if they reset the game the way it was at launch.
One thing SoE has to learn is........NEVER change a game in order to appeal a different market.
ALWAYS keep the game design for the audiance it was intended at the beginning (consistency)

That's all I have to say......but they will never learn I know :)

Or SOE tried to re-populate the game, which would also benefit the current player base. Of course you have to make it as easy as possible for old players to get into the game again, including giving them access to the zones where they are bound to find the most player (latest expansions).

Anyhow, I can see how that can be dissapointing for current subscribers - but the aim, I assume, is to improve your gaming experience (more people to play with, populated zones...). But I guess some people are just not happy if they got nothing to bitch and moan about ^^

I agree with you, when I saw some friends getting all the expansions when they only played the trial a couple of years in the past and friends that bought all the expantions up to EoF and played the game for years getting exacly the same thing, I understood SoE just dont care about the real EQ2 community.

No actually, the aim is to improve SoE bank balance, if they want to improve your experience they can aways server merge, which is quite inexpensive.

If people bitch about SoE is because they have reasons too.
Point is if SoE would listen more to their actual player base instead to overhaul games in order to get other kind of audiances, they won't find themselves in this position.

That's as simple as that.

Its not SOE's fault its the way the world is that is at fault. Example right now Dish Network is giving 3 full months free of programing with sub of course and pay 1 cent and u get Skinamax for free for a year.  Yet the current customers get diddly. Its something companies need to fix or people need to protest to get what they want. Just like when you pay full price for a phone and 1 year later its free with subscription. Well i have a subscription shouldnt i get my money back. Stop trying to blame SOE for everything its sad really.

Goldknyght.

First, I dont blame SOE for everything, I think you are confusing my words with the typical SOE rant, but it is not, I know a mmo company can give much more for your real player base for free, NCsoft is an example.

I dont blame SOE for nothing, but I really think this was a bad move for loyal SOE games, Im not asking for money or anything like that, an adventure pack exclusive for old ( and real ) players would be enough.

Total BS..it would not once let me convert to a subscription. No biggie i'm not going to beg them to play, they lost a potential customer.I tired everyday from about the 20th-aug 1st,every time it let me fill out the subscription, but then tallied a cost of 0$[3 month] and said cannot accept subscription.I think whoever is in charge of there accounts setup, should be canned pronto.

I agree they need a merge,it's a no brainer i did many head counts on several days and found the server usually around 800.That is horrible for even a merged server would only yield around 1600,you need at least 1800[will still feel dead]..2500 is decent..3000 is preferred.

The problem is that no intelligent business is going to give the appearance of struggling ,especially before they release there next expansion. It is just not good business,so i understand why no mergers as of now.If they don't get a decent head count after the next expansion,i would guarantee mergers.

Too bad i won't be around to witness any of it,i was kind of comfortable in the game as it is now and had fun crafting but oh well, there accounts department is second rate,so they lose not me.
