Somnulus writes: I just tried Irth Online last week. Unfortunately, there isn't much to say about the game; the graphics are reasonable, but not outstanding, the sound is again, reasonable but not memorable. The game mechanics are strange, to say the least. The NPC AI for aggressive NPCs is way too aggressive; once a creature starts chasing you, it's your soulmate until it is dead or you are. There are so many issues with game mechanics, it's a list in itself. The main issue here, however, is playability; Irth Online isn't. Extremely low FPS degrades the entire experience. A complete lack of ability to adjust video options (LOD, textures, MIP mapping options... anything) besides the most basic like screen resolution means that whatever performance your particular system delivers in the game is the performance you'll get throughout your experience. My system is an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (roughly 2.7 ghz), a GeForce FX5600 w/256mb onboard RAM, 1 GB of DDR333 and an Ultra ATA133 on my game HDD... and Irth Online just dragged. It's not ready for release at this point; release can only damage Magic Hat's reputation. It needs at least another five months of work. Treehugger; it is outrageous (or naive) to make a post about people not understanding what a beta is when the game your post refers to is NINE DAYS from release from the date of your post. If the game isn't ready at this point (and it is not) it certainly will not be ready in nine days. Thu Oct 27 2005 10:31PM

Treehugger writes: This game has come a long way during its Beta,. People have had bad experiences only because they dont know what a 'beta' is and expect it to be the release version. Irth brings back the feel and gameplay of UO and offers one of the only chances to play a Skill based game in a market saturated with Level based games that are all the same. Not giveing this game a fair chance would be a real mistake. Sun Oct 23 2005 2:24PM
