The screenshots of the game look cool. But those character models are the ugliest I have ever seen, in any game. They are emaciated, anorexic and almost 2 dimensional. If they don't fix that before launch, I'm foretelling flop. If they do, this game could be popular.

I hope that all of the female character models aren't like the one shown here.  The pants she has on look like my grandma's, and her legs and crotch are just as scary...

Reminds me of morrowind. Which is good, except morrowind had terrible character models too

Its nice to see a company use a original and creative setting for a game.

Beats the same orc/elf middle ages scheme thats been overplayed.  Personally I enjoy the change of scenery and appauld their rick of being creative, in the competitive MMO scene.

Another pointless comment , how original.

The length of time you've been a member should be long enough to have noticed that COS has been in development for some time, so the reason for your post is bordom, perhaps ?

Plus to the people complaining about character models obviously you are all more interested in eye candy rather than game play ?, me i'll be giving the game a try along with AOC and WAR, i've seen enough of COS to know if the gameplay turns out as good as I expect its going to be a fun game to play.

Horrendous character models didn't stop me from playing Morrowind, one of the greatest games of all time, but it certainly could have been better with better ones (and so it was, with the better bodies and heads mods!).

Just saying, they could do better. Those legs are quite weird.

[edit] though, compared to what morrowind had for it's time, these are better off for their time, IMO.

The models are fine... no clue what you guys are talking about.  The reason that chicks legs are like that is because of her race.  They dont have human legs/feet.  Also you have the option to be skinny, regular, muscular, and fat.

I think some people probably didn't check any of the screens but the middle one and saw the tops of the legs which do look weird if you dont see the rest. The reason I thought they look kind of bad is because of a similarity - at least to me - to morrowind, the models themselves aren't that bad, but the armor looks kind of weird on her. And checking other screenies the people with more normal legs seem to look slightly odd, but it's nothing gamekilling.

i totally disagree with some of the comments in this post, I really dig the art, and the characters are stylish and unique. Taking MMOs to a level of photorealism is overrated when you have a good sense of design.

I am really excited for Spellborn, and I see this game being pretty successful. Good going Devs.

I dig the art but I have to admit, That chick does look a little on the anorexic side.

Well said, I totally agree.

People just want games to be more and more realistic.. just take a walk out from the damn door to see something realistic

It's just a different style. Asia sort of has their own with the Final Fantasy themed gigantic weapons, and anime avatars. US sort of sways between the cartoonish characters of WoW, WAR, or CoX, and the attempted "real life" avatars like Guild Wars, LotRO, or AoC. This style seems to be kind of the European style. Ryzom was made by a French company that had a similar sort of feel.

at least in this game you can change the body build of your avatar, size, corporal mass and face... not like in an other popular game where everybody has the same body shape within the same race/sex. where if you want to play an human male your are entitled to have the body shape of hulk hogan even if youre a mage............................

Well, the female character you see there, is from the non-human race, the Daevi. They indeed look abit weird, but that kind of was the intention, for as far as i know. I wouldnt play one, that is.

Go abit through the website, or the screenshot section over here at mmorpg.com, and you'll come across some human female characters as well. They look great, rich and detailed in the TCoS style. Also, the armor characters wear in TCoS is very sharp and detailed as well, unlike the chunky WoW armors, f.e.. Overall, i think the character models are a big plus in TCoS, a very distinct style, but rich and detailed.
