World of Warcraft Alliance members have begun the battle to retake Gnomeregan and the Echo Isles. The campaign was announced a few weeks ago without a firm start date set. Now, however, devs have let it be known that the battle has begun.
If you are of the illustrious Alliance and wish to take up the charge of retaking Gnomeregan as called by Gelbin Mekkatorque, you'll want to report to him for duty in the district of Tinkertown in Ironforge. Members of the noble and steadfast Horde are tasked to report to Sen'jin village in southern Durotar. No matter if you're a weathered champion of your faction, or are still learning the ways of battle, you'll be able to help in these monumental efforts to change the very landscape of Azeroth. Dismissed!

This is pretty cool. I have yet to see what is going on (still at work) but plan on checking this out. They have a cool way of transitioning into events.
You can tell the gnomes to rise up all you want but one day you will realize they are already standing.
:P
Can someone update me on whether this is something semi-fun,I'm not subbed atm.
It's pretty fun :)
Its does sound fun . Things like this make me want come back to WoW then i remember what the community was like when I last went back and all the things that led me to leave in the first place . I wish Blizzard had'nt taken the route they did with this game if they had'nt I would still be playing along with a lot of other people that have given up . I've fond memorys of WoW for what it once was, today its looks like the same game but it certainly does'nt play like it .
Has no one notice the the huge typo in this article. Alliance isn't try to take back he Echo Isles the Horde is.
It was a good way to waste 20 minutes. Back to Dalaran to AFK.
The alliance side was pretty cool. The horde side, not so much. I would almost rather see both in a cinematic event (ie Wrathgate) than having 50+ players zerg from one non challenge encounter to the next. Yes, everyone participated and oh the effects were in full throttle, massive AoE for everyone that can. However, with unlimited mana, constant full health, it just wasn't fun. Charging Undercity was much more fun because there were lots of bad guys and lots of movement. Not so with this. You go to one location, kill stuff. Go to the next, kill stuff. Finally, kill something. Yawn. Again, no challenge, so it was yawn. I wasn't a hero in the story. I was one of the zerglings. The NPC's are the heroes. I'm just lucky to be in their presence.
It might last 20 minutes , not really worth a resub. Was slightly fun but nothing over the top.
Just create a trial account and do them =P That's what I did. I'm not resubbing till Cataclysm launches.
This seems to be really fun.
