APB: Reloaded News - Ready to Launch Update 1.4.1

Posted by Suzie Ford on Aug 26, 2010  | 28 comments in our forums

Realtime Worlds has announced that the deployment of the 1.4.1 patch for All Points Bulletin is a go for today. The full patch notes have yet to be released but devs have indicated that they will be upon the successful launch of the patch on all servers.

Combat and Gameplay has been updated! Gameplay has been improved to produce a smooth, immersive, and skill-based combat.

  • Vehicle handling has been improved.
  • All weapons have been rebalanced and now include recoil.
  • All weapons fire out to 100 meters.
  • All weapon audio has been updated.
  • Audio in marksmanship has been altered subtly.
  • Crouch is now client-side predicted.
  • Accuracy modifier on sprinting.
  • Accuracy now regains over time rather than instantly.
  • Weapons can be switched during the re-fire timer.
  • Default mouse sensitivity is lower.
  • Time for open world vehicle break-ins has been lowered from 10 to 3 seconds.
  • Arrest and Rescue times have been lowered.
  • Vehicle husks now block weapons fire.
  • Field of view is now weapon specific.
  • Hit VFX should now align with the direction of the weapons fire correctly.
  • Upon purchasing a new weapon players are offered the option to auto-equip that item.

The rest of the anticipated changes are outlined in this developer post.

Any news on the aimbots? I still have 30 of my original 50 hours saved for when they fix the hacking. Any PvP game is completely unplayable and will die if the hacking problem isn't taken care of.

I love it too - always a blast to play with friends. Just need to figure out how to eliminate the hackers.

I'd also like to see them add in some sort of persistence like to ability to hold territory or something.

With the addition of recoil i would think a drastic code change woul be need to update the aimbots. With APB not being so populous anymore i would not think these aimbots will be updated.

That being said... I dont think that many people cheated. Really try to look for aimbots for APB you wont find them easy. You mostly get fake videos and fake aimbots with trojan keylogers. I only looked to see how easy and available they were. This is a good sign as to how many are using them and with the numbers low on searches the chances are ur getting owned. legit. I myself ahve cried hacker many times.

This update will be make or break for many people. Not for me! I love the game and enjoy it. People complaining of imbalance due to upgrades fail to realize even in WoW your not taken on the highest raids because of gear. Just here u get your butt kicked by them lol :) They also adressed this :)

Happy hunting!

No chaos or pure-skill districts yet? I guess it makes sense that they don't want to split their player-base up too much at this point.

I was thinking about this the other day.

The pure skill district (No upgrades on character or Guns) should be free to play unlimited like the social district. Much like a forver trial that war does and so fourth.

This area will have Limited cars, no money gains, limited guns, limted appearance and limited to only financial/water district. Or a completely new smaller area with population limited to 50 making it 25 v 25 at any given time.

This would draw people in 100%

PB was active in PTW server(and it was working good). However for some reason they disabled it for live servers, so in short aimbotting is alive and well. Recoil mechanic even buffed the aimbots a bit.

Great game, Awesome patch.... nothing more needed to be said about it. The recoil mechanic is amazing, it adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay. You really are missing out if you haven't tried it out yet. Everyone that likes to complain about this game and the pop count, Just think back to Funcom's AoC release. Everyone remembers how bad it started and what it ended up into.

This game was fun, and is now Funner. Every mission is so much more intense and just drives you crazy cause everything comes down to the last few seconds.

Hope to see you all in San Paro.

I feel like the recoil has been overdone, but maybe that's because I'm used to the way it was before. The cars seem to take a few seconds before accelerating which is annoying. Other than that, the patch is great. I really like the kills notifications that should have been like that from the start.

Geez, can't you people read, there are hardly any devs left.  This patch was probably in  QA when the axe fell.  Don't expect many updates any time soon, there are few devs left to do them.

Let's face it, unless someone buys this game and provides dev support it is pretty much dead.

This game is playing out exactly like Hellgate did.  Better enjoy it now because it is doubtful the servers will be up very long.

Yes! me too. this would really add to the GANG element of APB. Could be called Turf for Crims and Sector..or something along those lines. They do something like this I mite bite and buy it,but atm APB imo with content it has atm is not worth the any sort of sub.

Geez, can't you read, a lot of the devs were hired back. This patch has been in the works since a few weeks after release which was about a month and a half ago. Expect a lot of updates in the future. They've listed a lot fo things they are doing and guaranteed future patches.

Let's face it, this game is going to be around for a little while because it has a good amount of people actually playing the game now in NA and EU servers.

This game is really a lot better than Hellgate. Enjoy it now as well as the future cause it's in the green for a good while.

Shame the CCGs are getting abused and that the matchmaking is still bullshit.

I dislike the recoil, but thats mostly because I was used to the game before, steadily improving though.

But I tested this on the Test server a lot..  there are some magnificent changes unfortunatly there are 1 or 2 other changes which may prove to be the downfall.

WEll i retract my last statment... if your crim and thought the NL-9 was bad you will hate the CCG now. Its worse than the Fin nl9 was it is no joke that all Enforcers are runnign with it. Game is a joke every time they fix something they break it again.

Glad RTW is failing.

The story that they hired the devs back is smoke and mirrors.  Count on it, this game is going to be the next hellgate.  There are tons of posts on the web from the ex devs disputing that claim.  Like I said, google is your friend.  Nothing like being in a state of denial.

Even if true its irrelevent really.

How much is owed to the debtors is insanly low so theres no doubt it will be bought.

I just feel sorry for those ex-employee's who have spoken out against RTW.  They wont be getting a new job anytime soon.

The car handling is nice, but I wonder if they made them all too similar now.

Great patch!  Driving is more resonponsive now and combat feels more visceral.

Now if they could do something about the griefers and hackers.  Yesterday during a mission against the NothingPersonal guild, they had five of their buddies jumping all around us during shootouts and then running us off the road during chases and going point to point.  No honor at all.  Sad really.

The other day in APB forums this guy was saying how he hadn't seen any hackers in APB.   He was in Code Killers.  Riiiiiiigggggggnnnnnnt. Code Killers and NothingPersonal can not just play the game for fun using skill.  They will cheat and grief and exploit just for the sake of cheating, griefing and exploiting.

Anyway, last weekend me and two of my buddies won 2nd place for the daily guild kdr.  I did my best that day going 20/4 and 17/2.  It was awesome.   I miss all the time and can be killed by any skilled player, an occasional unskilled player, and sometimes by doing something stupid and killing myself, lol.

Yah, I noticed there is still no fix for the hackers listed in the patch. Which to me, means a whole lot more than adding a cowboy hat to the game.
