It's been quite awhile since Jumpgate: Evolution's delay announcement last year, and until today we didn't know much more about the game than we did then.

In the interest of providing eager fans with some sort of update, NetDevil has broken the silence in a post to the official Jumpgate: Evolution forums, outlining some of the things the developers are working on or thinking about.
So what are the folks at NetDevil working on? Read below to find out:
-"Battlespace" returning to more of its simulator roots from Classic, really a place to practice not advance. I know this will make some of you happy in that advancing will only happen in "real" space not instant action type playing. I still hope to have some achievements/leader board materials form here but not likely to have any equipment or pilot advancing type effects.
-Lots of work on missions. With the new design team map layouts, mission stories, the types of things you do in missions, etc is all MUCH more interesting and varied than ever before. The kinds of things we can now do is very advanced.
-Better faction definition. The stories in the game really tell all about your faction and why you are at war with the others. The story is also darker than before with many of the missions you fly feeling more gray than the typical black and white always doing the good thing type story.
-PvP. Lots and lots of work on systems for PvP, new maps, new game play, new forms of advancement, player built battle stations, capturing sectors, etc. The scope and feel of the massive space battles you will be taking part in against other players will be, IMHO, what really sets us apart.
-AI functionality. Tons of work on making the AI both the right difficulty (it was way to easy before) and also varied in behavior.

What do you think about the changes NetDevil are working on? Let us know in the comments below!
Hmmm....
Well, it's nice to know they still have a pulse...albeit a weak one.
Two words "Black Prophecy"
Sure recent Black Prophecy anouncment put some fire in net devil's office lol :)
without trying to sound like a fanboi, I think JGE is gonna walk all over Black Prophecy.
BUT it will be intresting to see these two games match up when they are both released.
Now all NetDevil has to do is to give the employees lessons in English grammar, and they're set.
B/c that's the telltale sign of any successful developer - impeccable grammar.
Being small, do you end up w/ tons of cabinet space on top shelves?
With the way JGE is going, Eve will beat them to the first person view shooter style space sim.
That post did indeed sound like they're "starting from scratch" yet again.
Two twitch sci-fi spaceship mmos on the way.
Ready to duke it out for my cash.
This is a win, win for sci-fi spaceship nerds.
...Well if ur worried about spending money then Black Prophecy is gonna win
Its F2P....
I was expecting a lot more when they finally broke the silence, not a single forum post. Why they couldn't have given these updates in the past months (while they worked on it) is beyond me.
Oh well, it's good to know this game is still alive and being improved.
Good to see its still alive, still didn't say a whole lot, but whatever, it will come out one day and we'll see what they've been working so hard on.

Not worried just think competition is good, makes them work harder to get my sub.
with that said, If BP is good I have no issue spending Cash on the shop. I did with DDO.
This title will flop, NetDevil may as well throw in the towel now, BP is going kill this game, BP captured the Wing Commander feel, JG is just boss mob in hollow rock in space type gameplay.
And you say that based on what ?
So far we have seen nothing more than a crude tech demo of JGE. And i was following it closely since the very first announcement.
No economy , no cockpit , no avatars ... so many more loose ends
Honestly the game seems like very early draft, even after 3 years in production. And to be even worse its very much based on WAR philosophy of Battlegrounds-mini PVP instances.
It didnt go well for WAR , so what do you think it will do for JGE ?
And actually if I want space PVP game in instanced areas. I rather play Freespace. Its 100 times better and its free.
So what does JGE has over Black Prophecy ?
Nothing...
Lobotomist, you know nothing about this game, you were chased off of the JGE forums for being an idiot and insulting people and now you just sprout rubbish on here about it.
There are no instances in JGE, and the battlegrounds are for training purposes, not character progression, unlike BP which is all instances and battlegrounds with a crap lobby system and no open world.
Get a life, stop flaming with incorrect facts.
Game has been a long time in coming. Too long perhaps.

I am not convinced that there are no instances in PVP.
If you read closely their announcement says : We are working on new maps for PVP
Now I dont know, but to me it sounds much like instances and not like open space.
Making a statement like that is ridiculous. Black Prophecy has a cash shop and until we see how expensive it is we won't know. It could be another Allods...... If they do the cash shop like DDO there won't be an issue, but greed seems to over come the f2p producers lately.
Okay, let me explain how the game world is designed.
Instead of star systems there are sectors, an area of space within a star system that has something of interest in it, whether that is an asteroid field or space station, whatever, its more than just empty space.
Connecting these sectors together is the jumpgates, the means of travel across the galaxy that is faster than light. Think of it like EQ's zones, rather than a big open seamless world, cause lets face it, space is primarily empty and very big, its boring to just spend most of your time flying in empty nothingness.
These sectors are not instanced, instancing is when you have multiple copies of the same area, whether restricted to a specific group, like dungeons or open to everyone, like the areas in Champions Online.
So, JGE doesn't have instances, but it does have zones. Black Prophecy though, is just instances, lots and lots of battlegrounds, much like how Global Agenda is. So JGE is, even with the zones, a persistent world, but BP is just a fancy gaming lobby where you can arrange matches in instances tied to your group.
I'll tell you why lobo, because netdevil have ALREADY created a space MMO, a good one at that, that had a very loyal (but i admit small) fanbase.
and reakktor created neocron.
i have way more faith in netdevil than reakktor for getting it done to standard i'm looking for.
Oh well
Keep routing for JGE.
And as for people that used to do it for 3 years now ,know its just a piece of vaporeware.
In best case its just another disaster like Auto Assault
But yay , here's for hope
you seriously have no idea... vapourware?
I bet you was one of the crowd that called Darkfall Vaporware.. look how that turned out, non vapor.
don't worry i'll be quoting you aswell when it's released, and for good measure i might do it in a few years time aswell after a few expansions.
What ever mate
As you I wish that JGE does come out, and is great.
But i have been following its development for far too long. And from what i learned, i lost any hope.
I got a chance to play JGE about a year ago. The devs invited me and a couple of other fans to their hotel room when they were in Los Angeles for E3 (it's less creepy than it sounds honest, and get your minds out of the gutters you bastards) and we played JGE for a few hours.
Core mechanics of the game were mostly in place and pretty solid. It very much felt like Wing Commander (though the AI was about as intelligent as your average forum goer), but there were definitely issues that needed addressing.
I'm glad they've taken the whole year to work on the game. It needed it.
But it isn't vaporware.
Also, for the JGE fanbots that are screaming bloody murder about BP, besides the fact that they have no room to talk, are getting most of their "facts" wrong. BP is lite on the instances, which are mostly used for story missions. PvP is open world, much like JGE.
And for the love of God, BP WILL support joysticks. I'm getting sick of seeing people get that one wrong.
In the war for JGE vs BP, the fanbots and haters are going to be the losers, the gamers however are in for one hell of a ride. We NEED a twitch based spacesim MMO, something that isn't a Screensaver Online, and something that actually respects the legacy of the spacesims that came before like Wing Commander, Freespace, X-Wing, Elite, etc.
Thanks for that explanation.
Some of us out here are noobs and I was getting lost ready these posts.
No need to reply, I'am on the road again for seven weeks.
