Last week Cryptic Studios introduced the Engineering Reports feature to keep players in the loop on what the Star Trek Online developer team is focused on. Today, we've learned that Cryptic Studios has now also unveiled a "Release Calendar" feature, which works just as it sounds. The calendar makes note of important upcoming release date events, such as patches or major game updates.
Currently listed dates are available below:
MARCH 4
- STF: The Infected
MARCH 18-24
- STF: The Cure
MARCH 18-31
- Update 1 (Title TBD)
APRIL 1-7
- STF: Khitomer Accord
APRIL 8-14
- STF: Undine: Terradome
APRIL 22-28
- STF: Children of Khan
From the above dates it looks like all the currently announced Special Task Forces should be released by the end of April, while Update 1 has been given a release window of March 18-31st.
Check out the Release Calendar here.
[Thanks PyrateLV for the tip!]
And how much grief are they going to be in for when they don't release on time?
well, itll be their own fault. Its their calender, their date. it will not matter much anyway. they will release whatever they have in whatever state of bugginess it happens to be in just to met their own due date. If they wanted to be really honest and forthcoming they go ahead and mark the next consecutive 7days following each patch as "Reserved" for emergency patches and downtime.
One of the things that I appreciate is the fact that they're reacting to customer opinions and reviews. This is a good thing.
To simply assume negativity when they're working to change things isn't fair and not a positive step.
Let the game develop and unfold. Yes I agree they've started off bad but how many MMO's of late have not gone through changes? Even WoW has changed a ton from the original.
I just completed a 5 day trial and was in open beta and will not be buying the game at this point. I'll monitor where it goes and hope to get back in someday but today is NOT that day.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but not one dollar of my money.
If the game is a work in progress then support the fact that they're "working."
That schedule is tentative. Keep that in mind. They state that up front which to me means there is a very, very real possibility that they won't make those dates. It may be a day or two off or maybe a week or so. Either way I don't think I've seen enough "content" being added to keep me subscribed to this themepark game.
Heh, that's what I love about the sandbox model. Content isn't something I'd even have to worry about.
I like the fact, I have a general idea when new content is coming, I know it will not always release on time due to unforseen problems, just seeing what is being worked on is nice, I wish other mmo's I have played and still play would be this open about up coming content..
Let me fix that list
