Pity the game looks so dated even with the dx10 client

Well, it is going on 4 or 5 years old now. I have to say though, I was pretty surprised by the graphics when I upgraded to a 24" monitor @ 1920 X 1080 and a GTX 260. Looks way better than my old DX9 rig.

When I first read this I was thinking that you were crazy but from those pics it does indeed. However, while playing it doesn't look  nearly so dated. Maybe it's the fast action combat and how the game runs on my rig but it looks great in comparison to these pics.

Yeah we're never going to see a Crysis MMO until Crysis graphics are pretty low end. With the development time, and their longevity. That said CO uses a 5 year old engin and CoX IS 5 years old and with graphics on high they look quite nice (LoTRO too)
