I have a friend who wants to play MMos but only has dial-up. Would he be able to play this game (without it lagging like no tomorrow) with his dial-up connection?

Yes, but you might have to find a alternative way of getting him the big patches. By the way this game is great!!

Yeah right... WoEing would be very laggy in a dial up connection... Dial Up connections is just recommended for leveling and hunting a low level monsters

Depends where your from and where the server is located, i've played on 32 dial up and didn't have any lags like 3 years ago.

Just tell him to have a try, if it's ok, don't forget to post your information here.

Of course it can. Give it a try. I used to play this game on low-speed dial up(28.8k)

Ragnarok can work on dial-up, I used to do it back in 2004. Don't expect crisp gameplay though, and be ready to complain of lag spikes and disconnects. RO is actually one of the few games that can still work with dial up, but as with all games, is strictly inferior to broadband. Anyway, the prices of broadband nowadays is so much cheaper than what they used to be, so you might want to inquire for a connection.

I first played RO on 56k dial-up and it worked fine for me. It lags like crazy when you're near populated areas, but it's not bad enough to freeze your computer (unless you have a 10-year-old computer).

Yes, I've tried this before it works just fine. It could be laggy though during peak hours.
