They could have made the Tyranids playable by having either a Lictor or Tyranid Warrior character.  Broodlords or even a regular Genestealer could be viable, so why not Necrons?  The Necrons are no different from any other trooper in any of the other races in terms of following orders.

Nah having a Tyranid Warrior character proposing a temporary truce with another race is as lorebreaking as the Necrons doing so... Grief having them talk in chat completely bruins the suspension of disbelief - and let me tell you suspension of disbelief is as paramount in games as it is in films.

It's bad enough that Eldar may side with Chaos in this game, but being allied to a bunch of bratty chatty Nids is just a step too far.

NONE of the factions will be friends!  You play an Ork then Space Marines, Elder and Chaos will try to curb-stomp you, same if you play a space Marine then the Eldar, Orks and Chaos will also try to curb-stomp you.   Thay is why to Orks will be free to play from the start, to out number the other faction.   The game devs stated that it will take 5 orks to kill one space marine!  The game will NOT be balanced.

no you need 5 orcBOYS to kill an spacemarine

with other orcclasses you will be able to kill an spacemarine alone

That is pretty much a squad mechanic and the individual soldier would have little chance. It is offset against their lack (and cost) of other anti-armor units that many other armies can field plentifully.

The greater issue would be that only the very powerful Necrons are fully sentient. If a player is allowed to play such characters they could fit into the game easily. If the developer wants players sticking with basic troop options only then it would be extremely difficult complying with the lore.

One other possible option would be Necrons added as a second NPC option some day. Now that would be the proper time to be very annoyed with their anti-armor abilities!

I totally want to see them eventually though! :) . The change to a more pvp, multi-faction pvp game really raises my hopes for this game. Will have to wait and see.

You stay sassy!

Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k not related at all, same names pop out (like god name) but very different the two thats all, while in warhammer fantasy chaos gona win(its writen), in W40k is not that clear who is gona win(not writen), because of the varierty of powerful factions(who are sometimes way more powerful than the chaos itself, and who knows when comes another one) and chaos just one of it who competing(and with each other too, some of it fall out or got back, like Malal).

About humanity created by C'tan: naaah, because the C'tan at that time wanted to eat everything(and each other), maybe now, but only when realy is the Outsider behind the Tyranids.

Tho, you do have the point it's easier to finish Fantasy. Either the High Elves sac themselves and suffer the fate of Atlantis while closing(draining) the North Polar Warp Gate(most prolly with some Hero from Empire) or Chaos overruns everyone. Both are equally possible at this time. Meanwhile in 40k literally everyone could win. Or nobody at all lol.

Anyhow, Fantasy and 40k are pretty different in their drives so...yeah. I don't even Expect that a 40k fan needs to even like Fantasy or Vice versa.

40k do actually do actually have foreseeable futures, futures because it depends on factors

Imperium: Could only win in the end if myths/rumors like the Star Child came to be truth, they could turn the game and get back their golden age if the remaining surviving primarchs woken up/re-appear, the same is truth with a miraculous recuperation of the emperor

Tau: Impossible, they dont have the numbers nor the power to compete for final victory

Chaos: Daunting possibility of victory without any further changes in the game, mostly because of how the eye is a eternal safehaven and gateway  for demons and the legions which are imortal in the warp, thus they could just win with attriction out of every race out there (apart from nids).

Tyranids: Assuming that the actual hive fleets are only scout vessels, their numbers would be overwhelming to any one, the shadow in the warp thing gives them an advantage against chaos, they could just wipe out all life on the galaxy and leave the chaos gods without their power source

Orks: They have the potential, their numbers grow exponentially and they are practically endless, but they are too random to get something done, not to mention that they are easily influenced

Eldar: Impossible, like the high elves in Lotr they are a race in decline, they dont have the numbers nor growth despite having the technology.

Necron: Despite being very powerful and numerous, their supposed vulnerability to the warp would be their achilles heel in the end

So in the end you have a game about who can beat chaos

Humanity can't without a miracle, but they could survive eternally

Nids could siege the eye if the vessels are scouts, but no one knows what effect would a large concentration of nids in the eye have, would the shadow negate the eye or the eye would overwhelm it? no one knows

Chaos wins if nothing changes

Orks, Eldar and Tau can't in any way

Necron could survive eternally, but would not beat chaos
