  • What's New in the World of Warhammer

Greetings fellow Crusaders, and it's time for another look into the world of Eternal Crusade. Actually, this week we are going to look, not only at Eternal Crusade, but at some other Games Workshop titles that are currently in production that have piqued my interest.

  • Top 10 Most Anticipated MMO Releases of 2015

Right now we are in a bit of a lull in the MMO release schedule. Crowdfunding campaigns like Crowfall keep on trucking and the astronomically high level of hype around Star Citizen continues to escalate, but both of those games are pretty far off from a real release. This list isn’t going to mention any current crowdfunding games, nor will it mention stuff that will go into a closed alpha of any kind – only open betas and full releases.

  • Big News for the Eldar

Well met, fellow Crusaders, the time has come, once again, for us to talk about Eternal Crusade, the upcoming MMO/Shooter hybrid being developed by Behaviour Studios, in Montreal. If you recall, our last article, bemoaning the lack of communication between the devs and the community, was published on the same day as Nathan Richardsson’s “State of the Crusade” post.

  • News & the Lack Thereof

Hail and well met, fellow Crusaders! Terry from MMORPG here, and I’m back to talk Eternal Crusade with you again. To be honest, there’s not a whole lot going on right now, other than the studio is still working on the game, particularly the first Early Access Module, but we’ll find some things to discuss anyway, good, bad and ugly, in no particular order.

  • Nathan Richardsson, From Iceland to the Warp

As Terry wrote in his column yesterday, there’s a new sheriff in town with Eternal Crusade. Filling the large and vibrantly energetic shoes of Miguel Caron is Nathan Richardsson. From CCP, Trion, and Ubisoft with a pedigree in MMO gaming like few others, the new Senior Producer of the Warhammer 40K MMO chatted with Rob Lashley about the future of Eternal Crusade and his gaming past.

  • Into the Void

Greeting and salutations, Crusaders, and may I say that we, here at MMORPG.com, hope you all are enjoying a healthy and happy holiday season. This week we are going to take a look back at the final livestream of the year, Into the Warp, episode fifteen, which aired on the 19th of December. The big focus of this episode was the unveiling of about twenty or more minutes of actual game play using the current in-studio build of Eternal Crusade.

  • All About Early Access Modules

During today’s Eternal Crusade Twitch stream, Miguel, Katie and the rest of the dev team are going to be making some very exciting announcements. I was able to speak to Miguel Caron, Head of Studio-Online at Behaviour, earlier this week, to get some details on what announcements were upcoming. The bad news first, there are still things to be worked out before the game’s engine can be announced, so no new news on that front.

  • Hands On with the Pre-Alpha

Redefining “Massive” in a 3rd-person Combat RPG is Behaviour Interactive Studio Head of the online games Miguel Caron’s drum beat. Building a world set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe; making it an open persistent planet that’s officially part of the lore (Arkhona) which can support over a 1000 players in a single battle... this is what Eternal Crusade plans to bring to us in late 2015.

  • Free to Be Cool

Hey guys, I am writing this one from a hotel room in L.A., after having just sat in on the E3 Eternal Crusade roundtable presentation. The biggest piece of news was the announcement that Behaviour is pushing back the release of the Founders Program to the 25th of June. While disappointing, the pushback was necessary in order to allow the implementation of all the neat things that Behaviour wanted to get into the Founders Program.

  • Behaviour's Design and Passion for 40K

This past week we showed you some very early footage of Eternal Crusade. I wanted to write up a recap of the weekend we spent in Montreal and talk about what Behaviour had shown us. There are a few parts to this story that really get me excited for what this game will offer. It may not be on the screen in the demos but you can definitely find it in the interviews and also in the passion that the team has for the 40K license.

Lots of news on the Eternal Crusade front today, Behaviour has officially announced two partnerships, one with Razer and one with Alienware, as well as announcing a new spin on the Free to Play experience, with the new Pioneer Pack. Finally, two contests are running, to give the community members a chance at some pretty excellent prizes. I spoke with Miguel Caron, Studio Head, Online Games at Behaviour to get some more details on these announcements.

  • It's Everything a 40k Fan Could Possibly Want

Meeting Miguel Caron was an absolute pleasure. Though I personally am not into Warhammer 40k, (it’s a bit too dark for my taste) I always take great pleasure in meeting developers who are passionate about the game they’re making and Miguel has enough passion to fuel an entire studio and then some. He was exciting to listen to and even though there wasn’t any hands-on time with the game we still left the meeting excited.

  • The Tyranid Hive Revealed

Tyranids. To the veteran Warhammer 40K player the name inspires chills down the spine, a combination of awe and trepidation; and why? The Tyranids are an alien race from beyond the known galaxy. They arrived in this galaxy in 745 M41, along the Eastern Fringes, and since then their dreaded Hive Fleets have infested planet after planet. Once these planets have been stripped of their bio-matter the invasive Hive moves on, leaving behind a despoiled husk, incapable of supporting life.

  • Getting a Hands-On Preview with the Pre-Alpha Gameplay

This past week we took a trip up to Behaviour Interactive to get an extremely early look at Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade. Everything you are seeing on the site this week (videos are coming soon!) is literally pre-alpha gameplay footage. It is great that a studio like Behaviour is willing to show us this early gameplay footage. We got to play an early alpha build of the game and here is what we learned…it’s awesome! But you probably wanted more than that, so read on.

Greetings fellow Eternal Crusaders, and welcome to this week's Eternal Crusade article. I hope everyone had a safe and pleasant holiday, if you had one, or a fun weekend, if you did not. This week we will be looking at a few different things, the models for the Chaos Sorcerer and for the Chaos Raptor were revealed during episode thirteen of Into the Warp, the Eternal Crusade twitch show. There were also a couple of “surprise reveals” during the show, and, for once, it was NOT Miguel who slipped.

  • This Week's Tidbits

It's been a slow news period for Eternal Crusade, since the announcements of Halloween. Behaviour Community Manager, Katie Fleming informed us that the Rogue Trader Store was switching from weekly updates to bi-weekly updates, so that the production team could buckle down and focus on getting the first combat module ready for release. Most fansseem okay with that, given that the 10v10 module will give us some actual gameplay to test for ourselves.

  • A Closer Look at the Apothecary

After Friday's big Eternal Crusade news, this week we're going to keep it short, and talk for a moment about the new things we have learned about the Space Marine support class, the Apothecary. There has been a lot of speculation about exactly how the various support classes were going to work. Brent Ellison, Lead Game Designer on Eternal Crusade has indicated in the past that Support classes were going to function as force multipliers.

This week we are going to take a look at the single biggest character in Eternal Crusade! The planet Arkhona itself! While there is quite a lot about Arkhona we don’t, and can’t know, as part of the fun of playing Eternal Crusade is going to be discovering more about Arkhona and what is happening there; still there is a good deal of information about the planet available to the Eternal Crusade community.

  • Transparency in Action

Back in April-ish, when I started writing about all things Eternal Crusade, I became, very involved in the Eternal Crusade forums. I realized that the community probably far more knowledgeable on the various topics being discussed, and that it might serve me well as a game-journalist (HAH!), to put together a list of people on the forums who were well-spoken, intelligent, able to converse with others of differing opinion.

  • How the Rogue Trader Store Stacks Up

This week we are going to look at various cash shops around the gaming universe, and how Eternal Crusade’s Rogue Trader Store stacks up in comparison. Remember back in June, Miguel made this post, regarding potential changes to the Rogue Trader Store, but, with the busy summer schedule most game companies keep, we haven’t seen a follow up to the shop just yet. So we thought this might be a good time to look at some other successful game shops, and how they do things.

  • Space Marines - The Emperor's Chosen

This week we wrap up our look at each of the factions of Behaviour's Eternal Crusade with the Emperor's chosen, the Space Marines. Often referred to as Loyalists, to differentiate them from their fallen brethren, the Traitor Chaos Marines, the warriors of the Space Marine Chapters are genetically-enhanced super soldiers bio-engineered by the Emperor to be his shock troops.

  • The Wrong Way to Do Free to Play

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade and the developers’ decision to limit free players to the deliberately weaker Ork Boyz is a troubling precedent in the freemium game space. It’s not unheard of for some games to limit your race choice based upon how much you are or aren’t paying. This is the situation in the upcoming PvP-oriented game, and it’s concerning.

  • Eldar Weaponry in the Eternal Crusade

This week, and for the next few weeks while we wait for some actual game-play to dig into, we are going to take a look at the four confirmed factions, the weapons they use, and how these weapons work on the tabletop. Hopefully this will give us some insight so we can extrapolate a bit about how they will work in EC.

  • Cruising the Forums - The Cash Shop Debate

Behaviour has stated on several occasions that cash shop variants of common in-game weapons and armor will largely be alternate skins, and occasionally slightly rearranged statistics. Trading range for rate of fire, trading ammo capacity for reload time, things of that nature. Skilled players will counter the negatives and therefore benefit from the positives. Isn't that really “Skill to Win”?

  • For the Emperor - Become a Founder Today

In our last article, I mentioned that I had gotten a look at the Founders Program page while it was still being developed, and that I... uhhh, took notes. I had to get confirmation that we could actually use those notes, because, as you know, the Founders Program was pushed back a bit, so that the devs could get it exactly the way they wanted it. I promised that I would preface this sneak peek with the following disclaimer.

OK, public service message delivered, let’s get to the meat of this week’s article, which is: all about the common misconceptions regarding Eternal Crusade. These are the things that we see popping up on forums everywhere we look, the things that we hear Miguel answer again and again and again in interviews and on AMA’s. The common sort of misinformation genially spread by people who don’t know better…yet. So, let’s educate ourselves a bit.
