Shroud of the Avatar News - Music Peek, Zone Screens & Gallery of Wonderful Horrors

Posted by Catherine Daro on Oct 17, 2015  | Comments

The latest Shroud of the Avatar newsletter has arrived that is packed to the rafters with a video showcase of the game's music system seen in the video below, a pair of zone profiles and an invitation to check out the Gallery of Wonderful Horrors.

Vertas, an elven city, is shown to wonderful (and frigid!) effect in a series of screen shots. The port town of Etceter is also detailed in screens and, finally, the Fortress at Hilt found in Nightshade pass is revealed. In keeping with the season, a spooky image of the entrance to the Fortress's courtyard sends a few chills up the spine.

One of the special scenes I made is a small encampment of weary travelers who fear approaching any closer to the base of the ancient fortress because of the presence of a cave troll that waylays any who dare to cross the bridge near the lowest waterfall. Their horses were dangerously spooked, so they have camped higher up along the eastern pass to consider the possibility of fording some shallow area they hope to find in the misty lake below. Certainly nothing could go wrong with that plan! Just beyond their tent and wagons, through the dark forest, is an overgrown trail leading high into the mountains toward the treacherous volcano of Hilt itself.

The Gallery of Wonderful Horrors is a series of player-created objects to provide a few shivers of delight from viewers.

You can check out all of the screens and find out more on the Shroud of the Avatar site.
