Frankly I can't tell anymore and I don't know how anyone as CSE can either!     The latest Camelot Unchained newsletter has been published that contains a fascinating section and stream video about whether or not gear contains stats and how it affects the power of any given item. The short answer is that weapon and armor do indeed have stats and that there are a variety of qualities for gear that can be affected by such things as the materials from which it is crafted, the skill of the crafter, etc.

  • The Mark Writing Challenge - Can the Community Stump Him?

    Mark Jacobs is tasking the Camelot Unchained community with generating a legend or story that he will then turn into a "Becoming" story during a live broadcast beginning at 7:30 pm tonight. Failure to do so will result in Mark "doing something silly" on camera -- something the community of viewers votes to see him do!

  • First Crafted Sword Created In Game

    The Camelot Unchained team has been hard at work at a number of features as detailed in the Friday afternoon update. In addition to the lighting system and the new launcher, the team has been hard at work on getting the bare bones crafting system and UI into place. In fact, Marc Jacobs proudly announced that he had created the first crafted sword in Camelot Unchained history.

  • CSE's Sausage

    A lot, "a lot" is roughly number of CSE updates we've seen over the last few of weeks (30 plus youtube videos alone). It's almost like they planned for this or something (stirs his pot). After being in a lull (by their standards) for a few months it's nice to see CSE firing in all cylinders. It would be impossible to cover everything, or even almost everything CSE has been showing us so I'll have to go with...bullet points! How exciting!

  • First Phase of New Lighting System Goes Live

    The Camelot Unchained team sent out a screen-packed update Saturday afternoon to introduce players to the first roll out of the new lighting system. The lighting system will be rolling out in phases, this time with the back end code that will see textures 'tweaked' to make them fit the new code.

  • Challenging PvE

    Watching videos of players that manage to get through Skyrim and Fallout 4 playing as a pacifist is both astonishing and an example of my favorite thing about humans, our creative ingenuity. These determined gamers refuse to accept what is laid before them, instead they bend the game to their will and rewrite it on their terms. It got me thinking, could PVErs do the same in a game as PVP focused as Camelot Unchained?

  • Mutiny & a Snowstorm

    A few weeks is a long time on the internet. Last time I checked one day in internet time is equal to 2 weeks real time. CSE might as well have closed up shop and cancelled the game because they went 3 whole weeks without a typical (typically huge) update, at least I heard it was that long, but I'm too cool to care.

  • Hardcore RvR

    Most people consider "hardcore" PVP to be free for all, full loot PVP and to the purists anything less is "carebear". "Realm vs Realm", as coined in Dark Age of Camelot, is considered to be PVP's friendly cousin. It's PVP with a focus on realm/faction wide co-operation. The very fabric of RVR goes against the very nature of hardcore PVP but words and their meanings are not stagnant. Is RVR in Camelot Unchained more hardcore than hardcore PVP?

  • Crafted Prey

    Before I say anything about crafters I wanted to let the screenshot below sink in. That is a thick forest (an area specifically meant to push the system) with hundreds of players and bots (bots that were designed to be even more resource-intensive than an average player) battling it out in a game in Alpha that isn't crashing. It's holding strong and CSE has done very little optimization at this point! CSE finally hit around 3k before their physics system wanted to tap out.
