This is just horrible. - No map. This was a sad atempt to try and steal NCs ideas, (grav lifts, apartment features, hidden UI, floating taxis, forcable slow down when you reach 20 stamina), countless things just like NC. Except the fun, when i began beta testing NC i was fighting mobs within 5 minutes, there was ingame hints and tips, you began with basic equipment, there was transport systems and NAVray, maps, quick bars, windows were resizable and movable and pinnable. And that was in beta 2 (out of 4), FoM is OPEN... omg i dont think this will be released for another year or more. |

As a response to not seeing very many players, you missed it. When the game first went open beta months ago, the servers were crawling with tons of players, everywhere. However it didn't take long for all of us to quit, and try to forget this terrible experience. POS at it's finest |

The FoMk devs presumed that gamers have common sense. That turned out to be the biggest mistake ever.
Which was the second biggest mistake ever.
FoMk isn't very good but the idea of FoMk stealing Neocron's ideas is ludicrous because Neocron wasn't original at all.....think Nomad Soul, Deus Ex, System Shock 2. However it was better than FoMk. |

Compair neocron to a bunch of offline FPS/RP games why? because they are fps/rp in a futuristic setting? ok, if it makes you happy and makes you think NC isnt original. w/e. I played NC for 2 years, from beta 2-4, and launch to NC2, if you were fighting the same mobs after playing 4 hours then its your problem. But typicaly within 4 hours id be out of the sewers and into outzone/wastlands. Can level a tank into cursed soul range within 4 days. NC selling point is the pvp and the focus on skill, not loot or time. NC having a grind is a very funny story, a good one. Not even going to touch the common sense comment, a good excuse for lazy development and a shity game this is not. |

You said that FoMk stole ideas from Neocron and then proceded to list alot of ideas allegedly 'stolen' that weren't original to Neocron. You made a serious accusation and the evidence you gave was flawed.
I played from Euro launch to NC2 Beta so think I know a little about NC (Ah those were the days....). I was talking about the first time you played the game. Most people don't go out and power level on their first crack at a game. Oh wait you only wanted me to marvel at your leet gaming skills??? Ah sorry, you are truly the master!!!
The focus on skill and not loot or time??? You mean the skill of your character of course and not your own skill and you never needed to bother with collecting MC5 chips and the like. You can argue that any mmo requires "skill" above everything else. An mmorpg that focuses on PvP and player skill doesn't work (see Face of Mankind) because you may as well be playing BF1942. Neocron would have sucked nuts if loot and time didn't matter..
Yeah because you can walk straight into the game and enjoy it's main feature; the PvP. I did say that the "grind" was easy.

NC didnt steal its ideas from any game, the only thing NC has in common with the games you listed are science fiction, post apoc setting, FPS combat and the use of guns and other typical futuristic equipment. NC was the first FPSMMORPG, it cant be compaired to anything. First day of playing NC, (beta 2, only 200 people invited), i was in the sewers fighting mobs within 5 minutes with equipment my character started with. First day of Face of Mankind (which only lasted 1 day), i never found an enemy to fight, i never found equipment to buy. And no i dont mean the skill of your character i mean the skill of your reflexes and eye coordination and ability to understand game mechanics and teamwork. And you can put together rare equipment and MC5 chips in about a week or less of collecting bartering. Hardly time consuming compaired to modern MMOs. Oh a MMO that focuses on player skill doesnt work. I can see why you didnt like planetside (my second fav MMO after NC). Loot and time didnt matter in NC, you cant face it lol, everyone had rares, hell i had at least a cabinent full of each type of rare when i quit (pistol, rifle, heavy, melee, psi), and a full 7 cabinent apartment of tech parts. Ya and if i was mentioning eye candy you might have a point, much of whats wrong with FoMK has nothing to do with eye candy but features MMO need for them to work. |

I didn't say that Neocron did steal any ideas from Deus Ex and the like I'm just saying that grav lifts, flying cabs etc featured in other games before Neocron that the Face of Mankind devs could have got the idea off of. I found Face of Mankind pretty straight-forward to get equipment in and within about 5 minutes of starting had sorted out weapons etc and clone insurance (and been pkd about 5 times). It could just have been luck on where I started I suppose but I did find it all OK, the interface was a bit clunky but it was nothing that worried me. What worried me was after a while when there was so little to do and people were just going around killing anyone they met.

Seems like someone hasn't kept up too much. 1)Yes there are maps within the worlds, use them. 2)There is now a tutorial. 3)You now start with a pistol + ammo + armor. 4)Come to Brookly Shopping Center, NY. Or go where the tutorial tells you to. 5)The interface has been COMPLETELY redone, made prettier and easier. 6)Lack of a quickbar is all part of the strategy. Don't med during battles. ;) 7)Don't get lost. ;) 8)NPC's are not the point of the game. They are only decorative. 9)Apt. terminals do work. Either that or you didn't know how. In all, Face of Mankind has improved remarkably since you've last seen it. There are now alien NPC's to research (or just shoot at), and the politics have become much more intriguing. There are also a lot less ganking now, and Brooklyn now has anti-gank turrets that kill those who fire shots. And no, the game and its leadership is not a bunch of ten-year olds. One of the GMs was here in the TEN multiplayer days (for those who remember...) For those who say this is the worst beta ever, you haven't been in alot of them. ;-) |
