I'm thinking of trying this one out, but the video seem discouraging in that I'm not too sure about the lack of graphics.  Seems as though this should have came out 10 years ago.

 It's different and really impossible to tell you whatever it is good or not. I believe it is F2P right and you only need to buy from D2D to recieve the bonus items. Have not played it for a month or so though.

In the vid it looked like the other player who got pwned got his items taken.  Is it full loot pvp?  Can you corpse loot?  Just curious...

Give it a go if you want to waste time doing something that isn't much fun and that doesn't really build on itself. The game is probably fun for 30mins then the 'oooh this is totally different' polish comes off and you realise there isn't much of a game underneath. Your gameplay will depend on the faction you choose I would suggest brotherhood or Mercenary if you wan't a little fun. The LED and FDA are just about following orders (dumb orders mind you) and running in groups and standing around for hours at a time. The crafting is ridiculously bland in this game but some people enjoy it. Overall it had my attention for half a Saturday then I decided taking a dump while reading the paper was more fun/exciting.

FFA gank fest, hostile comunity, crap tutorial, long waits for stuff to happen.

The tutorial is quite good i would say. At leas the video one, don't know which one is supposed to be crap.

And while it's in theory FFA, it's not simply FFA because you got a faction to back you up, and as players play the law enforcement, theres no stupid NPC guards, or absence off. Of course, players can't be everywhere, and they make mistakes, too, but with non player systems, it's either no pvp at all,, or no security at all, which is often kinda boring.

And equipment is not that important. Of course you need a gun to shoot people, but once you got a gun, your fine most of the time. There are some differences, but no ultra rare drops you need to grind for 200 hours to be at least somewhat competitive.

And if you meet some nice players (in some factions it's even standard to give out some standard gear) they will give you some stuff, too. Also, if you do the missions (which should be available and cover basic stuff like patrol the market etc.) you get enough money to buy it yourself.

The long wait is more true, but it's not that bad unless you play at the wrong time with not enough people online.

It's quite different from most other games out there, so it's hard to tell if it would be fun for someone you don't know, but it's worth a try.

It sucks. For so many reasons. Starting with basics (gameplay, graphics, latency) ending with horrible community and abusive GMs (straight out of the EVE Online horror books). It is not as player run as it claims to be and it is plagued with horrible politics. The so-called roleplaying aspect of it is mostly people in a section of the forums who don't even play the game typing huge amounts of text which none but themselves read, in-game you'd be hard pressed to find anyone roleplaying (any remember the old standards of UO RP? even the intial times of Dark Ages Online -- not DAoC -- had more RP than FoM).

Avoid like the plague. D&DO offers far better gameplay, RP and community.

I don't know what it is like now but it used to be a good game back in Open Beta (before milestone 1). But then after milestone 1 it went down hill abit. You can play for free anyway so give it a go and see what you think.
