    For those looking for a true old school feeling to their MMO, Daybreak Game Company has announced that a 'true box', one account per player, progression server called Phinigel. Players will need to make friends, participate in chat and talk to be able to make it in the game world. The new server is scheduled to open on Wednesday, December 9th.

  • 22nd Expansion, The Broken Mirror, to Launch Later Today

    Daybreak Game Company has announced that the twenty-second EverQuest expansion, The Broken Mirror, is expected to launch later today, Wednesday, November 18th. Players can look forward to four expansion zones, three reworked zones as well as a pair of "scalable" raids among other things.

  • The Planes of Hate and Fear Return in The Broken Mirror

    The Broken Mirror, the 22nd (!) expansion for the original EverQuest, will launch on Wednesday, November 18. The Daybreak developers recently demoed the expansion during a livestream event, and we're recapping it all for those who missed it.

  • The Broken Mirror Expack Revealed in Stream Video

    During a special live stream event yesterday, Daybreak Game Company revealed that the next Everquest expansion will be named The Broken Mirror. TBM marks the twenty second expansion to the game and will contain two instanced versions of the Plane of Hate and the Plane of Fear. Also, new quests, missions, spells, alternate advancements and much more will be included.

    EverQuest's Holly Longdale has posted a new producer's letter to announce that the team has been working for the past year on a full-fledged expansion for the game. Longdale indicated that this expansion will bring content to high-level players along with new and updated 105 zones, fifteen raids, level-scaling missions, Heroic Adventures and two instanced raid zones, Plane of Fear and Plane of Hate, for players from 75-105 to experience together.

  • Second Progression Server In the Works

    The Daybreak EverQuest forum has been updated with the announcement that a second progression server is in the works. The first, Ragefire, was built to be twice as large as those that came before, and it is packed to the rafters. The result of that is the forthcoming Lockjaw server now in the preparation stages.

  • Ragefire Progression Server Reopens

    Daybreak Game Company has announced that the Everquest progression server, Ragefire, has reopened. The server will run alongside current servers, but players will be able to experience the game as it was at launch in 1999 and as expansions launched over the years.

  • Turn Back the Clock on May 20th

    No, we're not talking about daylight savings time, but the official launch date for the EverQuest progression server coming on May 20th. Named "Ragefire", the team anticipates that the server will be ready to go on the 20th in the afternoon after receiving a bit of "attention" after it's enabled earlier in the day.

  • Twice-Yearly Campaigns Introduced

    EverQuest players will have a lot to look forward to with the introduction of what Holly Longdale calls "campaigns". Rather than a single annual expansion, players will enjoy twice-yearly 'campaign' DLC. Longdale explains that this helps keep the world fresh, packed with content and gives the team a very quick turn around on player feedback.

  • New Loot System in March, Progression Server Poll Incoming

    The EverQuest team was on hand last week to give players the thumbs up on continuing development for the game. Among other things, it was announced that seven player-created missions will be arriving in next month's anniversary update, as well as the new loot system. In addition, a progressive server is still very much at the forefront but without solid plans at the moment pending a possible survey of players to see how they would like it to manifest.

    During the SOE Live celebrations of the past two years, EverQuest fans worked with developers to create Player-Designed Missions. This year marks EQ's sixteenth anniversary and these new missions will be the centerpiece of the celebration. The news was delivered in the first producer's letter of the year that lays out other details in store for the game.

  • The Darkened Sea Flows Into Game

    The twenty-first EverQuest expansion has been released and will give players lots of time at the beach in pursuit of new quests, new gear and much more. Called "The Darkened Sea", the expansion gives players an opportunity to revisit characters and locations from the past that have been reimagined in new ways. Of note is the new "mount keyring" that places all mounts in a single location in order to free up inventory space.
