This seems very restricted. The F2P only offers 4 races, 4 classes, limited amount of platinum and 4 bag slots. It's so limited that I can't even recommend this to anyone for free.

Hm, I just noticed the AA limitation also, at max level you need around 5000+ AA to be effective right now, the F2P caps it at 250, which means F2P players will need to upgrade to P2P if they wish to make it halfway through the game.

That was my thought, too. Free is really restricted!

I wish World of Warcraft had Player Housing, because then all these new games would too.

What do you expect for free? Of course it is going to be restricted. It isn't surprsing in the slightest. What would be wild is if they didn't restrict it so much.

It's surprising because EQ already has a cash shop. It's "customary" to offer full access to your game in F2P games with a cash shop. EQ2 emloys a similar system, but it's still not the norm.

Good to know, ill back after 13 years, just for "nostalgic" reasons tho.

That's exactly what SOE want to accomplish.

Since 13 year old game have limited ability to attract new players (ofc some will still come ,but there are more attractive titles for new player) SOE is betting for old vets returning imho.

Well last moment to make some bucks out of people nostalgia I guess.

The only thing that would make me play that archaic game again is if they announced a fresh server.

Why would anyone want to deal with the terribly bloated economy and the EPIC TWINKS who are just itching to club on n00bs.

If I played and had loads of epic characters in EQ, this FTP thing would have me smiling. I would make a x-mas chain to the day the ftp went live, as I would be first in line to completely wreck every new player with my raided out level 15 twink.

It would be like joining a xBox Live CoD server with my PC, mouse, and keyboard. A TOTAL BEATDOWN.

Yeah, They made it about twice as restrictive as EQII Extended is. This isn't going to bring in the new players they hope it will with these types of restrictions. I played the hell out of EQ for over 4 years back in 1999-2003 and still return every once in a while but after reading the FAQ on the F2P conversion I don't think I'll be returning again ever. RIP EQ.

unless the games suddenly gone full pvp then have fun trying to beatdown people that willo never accept your duel requests.

Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.

I didn't see anything shocking about their free stuff. Bag slots will be an annoyance, everything else mentioned seems pretty ho-hum. F2P and access to all zones up to expansions into the 90s... if anyone has played Wizard 101 you will know what it really means to blocked until you pay... I think this is a good move.

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this.

In a self declared free to play game?

Well, I would expect the game to be free to play... the whole game. A game with gated content should be advertised as a 'Mostly Free to Play'.
