to EverQuest. After almost 13 years of playing MMOs I am going to sub to a game that came out in 1999. I think it says alot about the type of games devs are making today. |

Always wanted to try EQ1, i loved EQ2 for several years. but I still don't think I will ever find the feeling that the first major MMO gives you. And returning doesn't quite seem to have the same satisfaction. Have fun :) Core i7(d0)on Foxconn Bloodrage, 6gb Tri DDR3,GTX 680, 60gb OCZ Vertex 2 SSD, 640gb Caviar Black, Windows 7, HAF 932 case, 24" Full HD Dell, Logitech G19, Razor Abyssus Mirror edition, 50mb BB. |

I would totally agree with you, if new games weren't being played because such a huge amount of people going back... then yes.
1 person, or 2, or 3 doesn't really speak to anything other than your personal preference. It's only a model |

I returned to playing original EQ on the Project 1999 server awhile ago. It was a good time and definitely a wholly different experience when compared to what is on offer nowadays. Still, I wish there was a newer mmorpg that implemented the things EQ did right/best. |

I've tried going back to EverQuest but the whole game just plays differently now, from the ease of play with mercenaries to the lack of grouping because of.. well.. mercenaries, everyone being high level and everyone multiboxing. I think that's the worst part about current EverQuest is the multiboxing. I was playing on a progression server the last time I was there and, no kidding, there was a person there with 24 characters that he was controlling. That's 4 full groups of characters. He was killing the dragons in Western Wastes on his own. Considering how much I used to play that game in the past and how good it was, it's kinda sad to see it in the state it's reached. |

Good luck playing a game that forces people to group that lacks any population.
Sure, you can get to 66-70 pretty quick, but then what? You certainly aren't soloing past 70 with most classes. You can only fight in certain limited areas that have the weak mobs, and those areas are camped by multi-boxers nonstop. You're not outkilling a level 90 or 95(forget what cap is now).
I went back a few times, and I think the highest I got was 73. The game is fun until about 70, when you just can't get anything done due to the limited areas one can fight. The amount of content that is unused is staggering and pitiful. If they adjusted some level 70-90 areas to reflect the game's numbers it would go a long ways into helping returning players - this may mean toning down mobs power or simply handing out better gear. EQ does nothing to facilitate new or returning players. I'm pretty sure they want us to play EQ2 or nothing at all.
If you don't plan to 2 or 3 box, at least, then I think you're going to be very disappointed once you get into the lvl 70 range. |

I hear man,i havyed MMO games since 1997*started with UO,DAOC,SWG,AO etc* I am playing SWTOR right know and it`s great but it`s not DAOC or SWG i can say that much. They have the pvp to were there is no point in playing on a PVP server. I am more likly going back to DAOC.

I wouldn't go back to EQ if I were you. The game is severly lacking in development and staff, I wouldn't call it a sinking ship, it's pretty much a ship at the bottom of the ocean atm. 1999 EQ was great, but I think EQ now is horrible (reasons: cash shop, understaffing, mercenaries, no updates, low population, too many boxed charcters, etc) |

I use to play EQ on and off for a couple of years. Since my schedule was completely random I never really got to group that much and missed pretty much all the original EQ dungeons outside of soloing a bit here and there near the entrances. |

Yes,
EQ1 is a hollowed out shell of what it once was,you wont find that magic you did in 1999 to the early 2000's.
There are other options though to play the original, though listing them here is a no no. |

EQ1 was great in its day, and I loved it dearly, but that day has long gone. |

I'll make sure I mark this day down as the day you went back to EQ then. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

I loved EQ till $ony took over hard and worth it. I then fell in love with DAOC. Bet if they dropped DAOC to say $8.99 a month you would have a mass run from wowhammer as well back to the olde game. I check back from time to time to play but at 15 a month it is pretty ghost town shame really. |
