That they stick to the qualities that made the first game so fun. but do upgrade some things to get new players interested. :)

plz leave below what you would like or not like in EQ next.

I kinda doubt they will :( but I'd love to see corpse runs and exp loss in (ie, good old death penalty), but I am fairly certain they said it will be a F2P game (have no link for that, but could have sworn they mentioned it in an interview). If that is the case, they will most likely be trying to appeal to mass number of people and make it very easy :(

That's my thought as well.

With a f2p game they will try to reach as many people as possible.

So they might have a lot of quests and a lot of exploring but I'm doubtful that they will include corpse runs and xp loss.

Didn't they get rid of those things in EQ2?

There isn't an xp loss in EQ2, but I think there is an xp penalty where you have to make up a small bit of xp after a defeat.  It has been a long time since I've played and I can't remember exactly how it works.

I don't mind corpse runs, at least how they work in RIFT, where you can run back to your corpse and incur a small repair penalty or you can choose to rez at a shrine for a lot more gold.

I really hate XP loss.  I had my fill of that in Lineage and, at high levels with a steep leveling curve, you can lose weeks worth of leveling.  It is disheartening and discourages risk taking.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Smokejumper said the next EQ, if not all SoE games currently in development, will be Freemium + Cash Shop similar to their EQ2 model.  They like that model now, which is fine, but I think it dramatically affects game development and play.  Just look to the current EQ2, LotRO, and AoC for examples.

I also think some game designs won't fit into a Freemium or F2P model very well.  EQ and Asheron's Call examples and are why I think they've not been converted to Freemiums.  If Turbine or SoE thought they could get away with that I think they would in a heartbeat.  It could also be that they are both so old that the risk involved with losing players to a conversion wouldn't likely be recovered by new players and a cash shop.

Spelling and grammar do matter.

I find your lack of real-life skills disturbing.

XP debt and damaged gear. Regular stuff loses 10% condition with a death, the good stuff loses 5%. I don't think gear can break permanently, but it will stop being effective if you run it all the way down. Repair is a money sink, with costs varying based on gear level and degree of degradation.

I want to see a placeholder and named mob system like EQ1. Very simple certain placeholder mobs have a chance to respawn the named each time they are killed, and the named has a common, uncommon, and rare loot drop.

Vanguard did this but later in their infinite wisdom decided to make virtually everything bind on pickup.

I dont know why after copying almost every other aspect of EQ1 more mmo's havent used this system. Every mob being a trash mob and the only way to get a drop is 100% random is lame as hell.

I would like to see a focus on character progression that does not include being in an exclusive guild that only 5% of the people will ever join.
