Hello all,

I think that Sony should start some new servers for EQ1.  In fact, I think that they should start a new server at the start of the new month for the next 6 months.  Then do a server merge or merge them with the old servers.

By doing this, you will get a two pronged effect!!

First, the number of players are slowing dwindling, and its hard to get a raid started. I have heard the numbers of people playing on overseas servers are 2 digits sometimes.  With all the new games this will happen.

Second, I played EQ1 for 5 years and there was nothing like the start of it.  The race to conqueror.  The huge populations looking for rusty weapons.  The excitement still will never be duplicated again.  This will also let everyone who came into the game in years 3, 4, 5, to see and feel what it was like.  Let me tell you, that first year rocked!!!

Also, Sony, If you are going to do this.  Announce it.  Everytime you start a new server in EQ1 and EQ2 its like a secret.  Why?  You should place advertising in gaming rags and email your entire database to make this huge news heard from far and wide.  Plus, whats it going to cost ya for 6 new servers?  5k? 10k?  20k? If you get 5000 new subs thats 60 k a month!!  Nice little investment.  I expect my check please for this idea!!!

I personally know 30 plus people willing to start it all over again!!!! We can't be the only ones!!!

Start a new server? Start a new server you say? hhhmmm.. They wont do it. Simply for the fact that the current player base they have, are still there because they will not give up what they had done over the past 6 -7years. If they made new servers and merged the old with the new, although a pretty idea. Would kill everything they loved for the game, yes its going downhill, yes players are leaving more and more, but its dying, its had an AWESOME RUN I played it for 6 years of my life on the Rathe server. Still my favorite MMORPG. Nothing grabbed my attention more than the first time I killed a Qeynos guard, or took down Lockjaw, or ported my first group of people to luclin, when the only way before was the spires, or Raids on PoH PoF ect. Its just its time to be let go, and remembered like Ultima Online.

Sony don't read these boards anyways what do they care, they have 4 failing mmo's if i rmemeber correctly, they are having hard enough time keeping SWG afloat, EQ will take care of itself for a few more months, till the do somehting drastic liek they did to SWG. SONY UNDERSTAND MMO'S come and go, nothing is forever. Dont revamp an old game, make a new one. spare us the bullcrap.

I think if higher lvl people could have some stinkn solo content, maybe they would attract back some players. forcing people to group with a dwindling player base only builds frustration.

personally i prefer to group however i would like to see more newbie servers i joined morden rasp when it came out just because we were all new no one was 6 years ahead and it felt great.
