Hello all,

The title says it, I am thinking about playing EQ, should i even bother? I do play EQ2 right now, but I am starting to need a somethin else, and I am thinking about getting a stationpass anyways for the DCUO when it comes out. And I happened to stop by EQ website and seen that a new Xanp is coming out Oct 12, and I use to play way back when there was only like 3 xpan. But I dont have that account anymore, and even if I did I would want to start from scratch anyways, it been along time and alot has changed. But anyways, could i find friends and a guild to join this late in the game? Is it worth the investment of time this late in the game? The graphic dont bother me, i believe that a game is more then its graphic, it much much more. But I want to get some idea from people that play it.

I would recommend starting on the firiona vae server if you are coming back from scratch now.  The main reason for this is that most no-drop items are tradable on FV and it will allow you a much smoother progression to current content.  If I remember right there is also a small exp benefit to being on said server -- the cavet is you can only have one character there per account(it is the role-play server).

How is the population on FV? I'm just curious because the official forums seem to indicate people want to be able to transfer off that server.  Just curious is all.

I play on the 7th hammer (whatever else is merged in there) and it seems to be ok. I leveled up a bard and yeah the lower level zones are kind of empty but not to bad if you are a bit social and ask to join groups or invite people to your group.

OP I think when the expansion comes out it will be a good time to jump in. The expansion will have all the past expansions. Thing is you probably need to pre-order in order to save some cash. I think it goes up by 10.00 after the release.

Goodluck! You'll find a lot has changed. Some good, some bad.

I love a challenge but I am also a social person. I love to talk etc. Group is fun but more when I am higher. but will do it at lower lvls too. I have got EQ back 2 xpan ago and add it to my account for eq2 because was going to play and do the Stationpass, but never used Eq so I could jump in now, and add the xpan when it comes out. Which server is the most pouplar and has a great commuite? I would need a good guild that would be willing to take me under theyre wing and help me learn.

I can't offer you much help. If you send a PM to Mardy on here or on the official forums they may be of more help. I'm not in any guild as I just have a small group of friends I play with and we just taking it slow.

I think the best advice I can give you is post this on the official forums and see what  response you get. They also reactivated all the old accounts and allowing to play for free this weekend. Boost in exp too. Great time to jump in.

Spelling and grammar do matter.

I find your lack of real-life skills disturbing.

I believe you can have 3 characters on Firiona Vae now: a while back SOE increased by 2 the number allowed on each server, and didn't make an exception on the case of FV. I haven't played there in a long while, but I remember that language communication was a hassle.

Yeah the official forum is your best bet to get help, there are a lot of helpful posters there that can answer your questions.  Especially in the newbie zone section:

I see you have already created a thread there so hopefully you got your questions answered

The server that I play on is the Nameless server, and it has a good population. I have 2 toons on the FV server and its population is way lower than Nameless. Also, like a previous poster said, the language barrier is a pain on FV. Just wanted to let you know.
