I remember back when Kunark first came out. Such a great experience.

Felt acomplished when I leveled just one level...

Would play again but I've heard bad things about peoples stats being way too high and how hard it is to get any gear because all of the old raiders don't look for new recruits. Plus I'm sure the population is god awful, for lower level content I mean, making it harder too level.

Anyone here still play this game alot? I mean raiding and such.

Despite all the bad things I'm hearing I'm still tempted to install it and start up my account again, the only thing thats stopping me is I lost my disks. Plus I'd have to go out and buy expansions past Darkhollow

I play, generally, Thurs-Sunday.  I am having a great time.

I raid, however, maybe once a month.  It is generally a pick-up, and it is always fun.  It is not as pushy, or intense, as I remember the "old" raids used to be.

I play a few servers, but I have mostly been playing Combine.  Finding a group is never a problem for me.

Edit:  geez, original was as if a 9 year old wrote it.

I heard they took away the "grind" feel of EQ with some patch too attract more people back so it won't feel like 'forever'. Thats something I personally enjoyed about the game but I dunno...

I figured by now the highest stats needed for raids are outrageous and almost impossible to get without raiding guilds? Thats what I meant.

Hows the economy?

Honest answer:

-The grind is still there. It start at lvl 70 and at lvl 80 the AA grind starts. You will think you lvl fast up until lvl 70, then reality will kick in and you will spend months to catch up in AA and lvl to lvl 80.

-The highest stats are 1000hp items from the SoF expansion. If you have 200hps items you are considered gimp.

-SoE has started RMT, you can get items for $ now, including potions that give you double xp, called potions of adventure.

-The economy is ruined because people buy platinum all the time. The highest lvl items go for 1mill+ now.

-The population is awful yes. Multiple requests to merge servers have been denied. I believe because financially it costs too much to bother to do it. So if you're on a dead server they expect you to pay 50$ to transfer.

-Raiding takes too much time, and everyone multiboxes, even on raids.

I quit and it was a good decision because all of the above just pissed me off.

Well I guess good thing you told me haha. In all reality, I wish they reset the game to the first 3 games. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

Yw Bdon. You're my age, and I just felt lost, most people in EQ are married and have kids and are 30-45 year olds. I'm 28 lol and it feels kinda weird.

EQ is kind of a waste of time now cause it crossed the line from entertainment to grind. I can't stand 4 hour raids anymore and that's all there is to do at higher lvl. After the raiders log EQ is an empty space.

You can play it casually but there's no one around to play then.

It's real hard to get a good opinion on EQ because there's a lot of folks who have never played anything but EQ and can't form a decent opinion because they're unable to compare it to another game.

The only game SoE still has that's kinda cool is Vanguard I guess, but it's very low pop too.

WoW is not my favorite game but I play it now, it's ok, at least I can talk to people there you know, some are kids, but most ppl I hang with are my age and most are fun you know, so it's cool and I'm having fun most of the time, I don't raid heh and play it casually which is cool.

Yea I got what your saying.

I understand where your coming from, I guess I'm just getting kind of restless because there are no good games out with good balance. I just remember playing EQ back in the day and being happy, no game has been able to give me that back.

Its unfortunate really, but I'm so tired of WoW....

"I play MMORPGs to feel FREE, yet I am always in chains."

  1. Not True that people who play are married and in their 30s.  I play, my family plays, and friends from real-life play.  None of us are near our 30s or married.
  2. The grind is there, but I enjoy the "sit n grind."  I always have.  I enjoy crawls as well, or at least crawling to reach a camp spot.  I am not a get in, get out type of player.
  3. I primarily play on COMBINE SERVER, and the economy is not ruined at all.  I have yet to see a 1,000,000 item, and I am not sure you can set prices that high in the bazaar.  The economy, actually, is quite strong on COMBINE.
  4. I have a read this afternoon, but I seldom raid.  I never liked it.  Now, that is a grind to me.  It is not skill; it is functional.  Log in, at this time, at this zone, to repeatedly click CHeal.  I enjoy grouping, mostly, pick-up and with friends, guildmates.
  5. I am leveling to 70 on Combine and just going to do AA-points.  I think that is the beauty of EQ is that I do not have to raid.  I do not have to pursue "uber" loot or join "uber" guilds to feel accomplish; have fun; or develop my character.

I am enjoying EQ more now than just about any time in the past.

It is true that the community is not like the community we all knew from the past, but the community from the past was not all that rosy either.

Combine is a good choice, so long as you avoid "classic" and "progression" guilds.

Classic guilds are guilds that restrict themselves. They will block themselves from any loot or zones beyond a certain expansion, set by them.

They put these restrictions on themselves.

Those guilds don't usually work out though, since there will be conflicts etc and people looting things and using zones they shouldn't according to the 'made up rules'.

I've never been in a guild like that, and they're far and few in between and never seem to stay alive.

I wish the progression servers weren't lightning speed or I'd play them.

EDIT:  Totally new post.

I am not that eager to play progression ... again.

I had fun.  It was not as good as I thought it would be.  Yes, expansions were released too fast.
