As a long term DaoC player (just returned to the Ut*** server as well) I was keen to support an open world PvP centred game like DFUW, bought the game on Steam and started a couple of Skirmishers on the EU server.

Now, initially I was quite intrigued by the somewhat different game mechanics (I.e. radiant wheels etc) but I have to admit that I find it awfully hard to really enjoy the game, though I really really want to.

My main offput points are:

- game seems clunky, very slow gameplay, long travel times, graphically perhaps one step higher then DaoC but not terribly much

- I keep dieing a lot, not many ways to deal solo with mob spawns

- exploring the world does not seem to be very rewarding, vast open spaces without any mobs, little variety

- the game tutorials / guides  somewhat confusing (not AoW - confusing, but not far behind)

So as i said , I'm playing Skirmisher builds with focus on Bow and 1-h Sword, (maybe thats what makes me die a lot), levelling Evade.

I really want to support the game but the real spark hasn't ignited yet. Could anybody point me perhaps to a good guide on how to develop your character or give me some general hints on how they made the initial levels fun to play. How long into the game before you cought the bug (a lot of people seem to have cought it )

Many Thanks

Try the offical forums?

There are guides stickied there plus the skirmisher forums has build advice.

First, you need to bind all your keys. I'd reccomend binding each ability to a key, and not using the radial wheel toggle at all.

Second, you need to focus on building stats, not skills. Work on pumping up your dex.

Third, get in a clan. Let them know you are new, and ask questions. A good clan will get you on the right path.

Hope that helps,

Kill someone and take thier stuff.

(probably took me 3 months to get used to it)

NEWS FLASH! A bank was robbed the other day and a man opened fire on the customers being held hostage. One customer zig-zag sprinted until he found cover. When questioned later he explained that he was a hardcore Darkfall Online player and knew just what to do.

The right and most enjoyable way to get into DFUW is to research guilds, find one that seems suitable to you, join up and then start playing. Everything else will follow naturally from that.

It's not like you have to sign in blood, if you join a guild and it's not right for you then quit and join another.

The other right way is to join with some friends. If you do that you can pvp almost from the first day. The game is PvP, and I'd even say guild based. The only real alternative might be crafting, but even that you probably want a guild so that you can sell to people while funding your rise in skills.

Watch Uzik newbie guide vidéo it help a tons

Part I : getting started general ui infos and starting well

Part II : PVE grinding and leveling up the skills

Part III : Prowess and feats system

Once you set good keybind, learn to switch the transferts and got a general idea of how the game is meant to be played all go smooth and the game start to become really fun and rewarding
