Originally posted by Tamanous Yeah, I could imagine not getting the client would be frustrating.. don't know why it was so difficult... I was able to buy 2 copies the first day... just used 2 computers sat through a few seconds of lag and both went through.
My clan never owned a city.. just a small village and we had to steal it of course. I had fun during the first war. I remember one day we were fighting with some clans... the next we were now allies. Great times. Hopefully, they learned from previous mistakes and fix them this time. The only issue I had with launch the first time was the exploiters had a huge advantage... oh well... I still had fun raising my skills up then fighting in war... win or lose. |

Originally posted by Ackbar I still would start later. I don't fret over missing out on exploiting ... I hate to exploit. You still pick a racial group in the game and if there is little exploration and base locations left I'd just join a guild already established and benefit from their advancements anyway. At least the game would be more playable and with fewer bugs and exploits once some are fixed.
I simply won't spend money on a game that hasn't proven itself yet. Again, this could all change if I tried some beta testing and was satisfied. This is an indi-company which is always worth our support but their history for efficient development of content is flakey at best. I need to know if it is actually a good game before I buy it. |

Unfortunately, killing is just one of those things that gets easier the more you do it. |

Since I don't have to re-buy the game, I will give it a shot. When I quit I went out with a bang and raided a city by myself with a bunch of stuff on me but mainly a large villa deed. The person who looted me was very happy, as we talked a bit afterwords.

I would even if I had to rebuy the game. I liked the first one and have considered going back. I am slightly more into PvE than PvP as well.

Yeah, definitely. Hope the first few months of this launch are as amazing as the first one, some of my best MMO memories there. I just hope this time that the game is deep enough, and bug/cheat free enough so that everyone sticks around and we have an awesome sandbox! The villages connected to holdings system sounds amazing. _________ Watching: Darkfall: Unholy Wars, Elder Scrolls Online, ArcheAge, Camelot Unchained, Bless, Black Desert Online, Lineage Eternal, MU 2. Always hating on instances in MMOs! Open worlds, open PvP, territory control and housing please. More persistence, more fun. |

Although I did hate their loot system especially once macroers scripted it. |

Definitely. Aside from the problems within the game, biggest of all what seemed to be a complete lack of doing anything about exploiters who were ruining the game unhindered for months on end, it was some of the best fun Ive ever had. One of the main reasons I left in the 1st place was because my PC at the time with a crappy Radeon HD 2400 prevented me from being able to do much of anything in PvP especially in large battles. More than a few people fighting together and my FPS was dropping to 10, maybe 20 if I was in an area with fewer trees and stuff. Usually resulted in me attempting to hit a few people with AoEs while my screen stuttered for a few seconds before I died. Luckily Ive got a much better PC with an AMD FX 4100 and a GTX 560 Ti now and wont have to worry about that happening so looking forward to causing some mayhem in DFUW. |

I know I really want to play from the start just to enjoy the experience of it all. Sure without adequate stress testing there will be issues, server side patches, "woopsie" issues (remember in Darkfall 1.0 where some of the NPCs spoke Greek rather than English? Woops!), nearly all MMOs have such things.
But to pick up a scickle and try to get my first steedgrass to make my first horse, and go exploring in the new world ... that I want to do. I don't want a game that holds my hand and tells me how to level up to 90 and then gives me the gear to defeat the dungeon boss to get the gear to raid to defeat the raid boss for the achievement. I want to get on my horse, ride towards the hills, and see what is on the other side - without knowing what, or who, is there. |

Nope, I know AV too well to expect a launch without horrendous hiccups, I will be keeping an eye on the progress though.

Nope.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

DF was the best MMORPG experience I've ever had in spite of the huge and glaring flaws.
For me, it's the closest I've ever seen an mmorpg get to the Elder Scrolls in terms of combat and exploration. Archery, is for me, the best example of this. I found so many amazing things exploring and had so much fun as a solo player in a game that is clan-based at its core. I did get to participate in some sieges and it was amazing fun.
There are some d-bags in the game, but what game isn't like that? I met far more cool players (helpful) than jerks in DF than in any other game I've played. I've played a lot of games, too.
I loved the fact that I could build a raft and go exploring remote islands and prosper by finding "easter eggs" out there. Exploration can yield great rewards. You can also get ganked and lose it all. It's just awesome. |

I never tried the original because I had heard of all the macro'ing and crap you'd have to do just to be able to compete, and first person view is a big no for me. If the new one isn't first person view I may keep an eye on it and try it out after the reviews from players is in a few months out.
What happens when you log off your characters????..... |
