you can beat zombies with the torch one to one. They dont spot you if you creep around, it's other players you have to worry about.
Be sure to keep out of sight of players because there are alot of players mainly the young ones who would go around shooting a player even though that player only has small backpack and nothing really worth taking.
Flashlight is nice to have if no other melee weapon, but it means players would know you are about. The game is a lot more fun in a group with good communication, safety in numbers is very nice in WarZ and DayZ. The best and most common melee weapon is a hammer, I found pickaxe but wasn't the best. :)
Boring game = boring video.
Devs: "it's a co-op zombie shooter"
Players: "Lets gank the newbies and ignore the mobs completely"
Players: "Damn right, this is our game!"
Players: "Bored now, lets gank each other"
Players: "Bored, next game please?"
this is pretty much a good representation of the survival part of this game. you walk around from point of interest to point of interest looking for supplies needed to survive and deal with zombies that take notice of you.
the problem with this game right now is that the zombie part of the game is no fun. the developers want this to be a zombie mmo but are failing to provide any real reason to play the game for a long time. it might be fun for a night to go on supply runs but then it is reduced to looking for other players to kill and frankly there are way way better shooter games out there if you was just looking for pvp shooter fun.
bottom line: it's not a fun shooter, it's not a fun zombie survival game, it's not even really an mmo. it's a work in progress with some interesting ideas but it needs a whole lot more production work to be a good shooter and more zombie survival features to make it a good zombe survival game.
There for a minute I though we were going to hear pokket cuss, she stopped short of that, and that was the highlight of the video.
