Arrogance above all. |
A lot of people judge this game too quickly, and that's a real big pity. I've already tried to tell people why Tibia is such a good game, but with little success. A lot of people are stubborn and are not willing to give this game a try. CipSoft just wrote a nice article about the strengths of this game, I highly recommend you to read it. Enjoy!
"Most adventurers cleared the Rookgaard sewers, many climbed the dark natural tower in Shadowthorn, some received the kiss of the Queen of the Banshees, and a few mastered the Pits of Inferno. No matter where you go, be it city or dungeon, the certain flavour that makes up Tibia is with you. ![]() Another feature that is easily overlooked is the tile-based structure of Tibia. Even though the environment in Tibia might feel less seamless than in games that do not depend on grids, the structure helps to get a grasp of the Tibia world and certain effects more easily. For example, a great advantage is that there is no uncertainty if something will be covered by an area spell. For example, you know exactly which 9 tiles will be affected if you use a firebomb rune. ![]() We have heard several times now, that many Tibia features lead to an important factor of the game play: interaction. Why has interaction such a great influence on the gameplay? Only if you interact with each other, certain phenomenons will occur. In a world where you can live beside each other without any form of interaction, people would not talk with each other so there would also be no news that could be spread. It is next to impossible to gain prominence or notoriety to more than a small circle of friends if nobody hears about you. In fact, chances are that you could play the game without anyone truly noticing your existence at all. Heroes and nemeses arise only through interaction, not through indifference. |

Alot of that is fine and dandy but there's ALOT of players out there that doesn't apeal to at all and about 90% of those features are found in other games out there...maybe not all in one game but spread out. |

Strayko are you still trying to get people to play Tibia? Look, if people want to play Tibia, they will play Tibia. I've found that being persistant with stuff like this actually turns more people away than makes them want to play it. I left Tibia when I was level 30-something I think? I don't know it was too long ago, but I remember not very many people spoke English which was the biggest pain in the ass, and the ones that did only knew how to speak l337. For example, if I said 'Hi.' to a high leveled player, this would be their response: 'ZOMFG U FUXING N00BZ0RZ GET SUM FUXING LVLZZ!!1!!ONE!!!!ELEVENONE!!!!11!11!!!!!ONE!!' Just for saying hi, I got that. That was a long time ago though, community might have changed quite a bit in the 5 or 6 years I haven't played Tibia. I don't plan on returning though, seeing as I'm perfectly happy with the many MMOs I already play. |

I am first and foremost a Sci-Fi lover. But I would take WoW over EVE any day. |
Of the 4 years I have played Tibia. The community had declined greatly the past 2 years. I prefer to label most of the people who play tibia as "scum of the earth" to put it as nice as possible. You used to be able to keep the trouble makers at bay when they went random PKing, etc. Now all the trouble makers buy high level accounts and you're helpless to do any thing. To the point where they WILL force you to do things in and out of Tibia unless you want your own character in ruins. Only other option is to quit: I took that option. |

I love Tibia, I have played many games from old school Ultima Online to Tabula Crapa. The one game I have been playing constant, is Tibia. |
