*I Rather Be Hated For Who I Am, Than Loved For Who I Am Not* |
It may not be a game listing, but there are LOTS of roleplaying servers on there so i dont know how it couldnt be considered some parts a game as well. When he said the 10 % i do believe he was meanin on those ROLEPLAYING servers not the social ones i mean seriously cmon. I have friends in there that run buisnesses as well and make damn good at it, but some of these buisnesses are *roleplaying merchandising*. Theres a little of everything for almost any kind of person, so to say its not a game, well maybe its not but its not all social either. Its a fantasy world just like any other chat, social, gaming, whatever places, hell even games have socializing. I have to agree on this last update, and the crazy ways its been acting up it blowsssssss! With only the few experiences i have had with it cause im hardly in there, since im in WoW now mostly but those few times have been enough to make you want to scream somtimes....which sl done that alot anyways. *Azure's Wolfie* |

I didn't like it because when I tried it a friend was showing me around and I was accosted by an avatar dressed as a spartan with an enormous erect penis.
I logged out and never returned.
What exactly is the need for this? |

SL was actually a perfect little sandbox MMO back when the community was smaller. It was very popular among graphic artists and programmers. Now it's really convaluted with wacky or disgusting places and shady people trying to make whatever miniscule amount of money possible by the dishonest ways possible. If you do try it - play it with friends and just avoid all the crowded areas. Hang out in sandboxes or the weapon testing sim. |

There's a formula for everything, even famous quotes. |
Second Life plays like a failed EQ-clone engine with a suped-up Sims tacked on the side. There is no fun to be had here besides buying the junk people make or selling whatever junk you can make. It's like if metaplace and Bobby Kotick had a child. You can see a gleam of creativity and inspiration in it's eyes, but any hope for it's future is utterly destroyed when you step back and get a full view of this hideous crack-baby. My opinion of capitalism probably affects this outlook, but I think the game is based on trash and so is trash at its core.
How you can possibly play this "game" and enjoy it is beyond me. To each their own, I suppose. |

There are also MMORPG like games within Second Life like Avalon and DarkLife. It's kinda laggy but the possibility is there. The current fad right now is raising virtual AI pets like chickens, turtles and even bunnies. Fish breeding will be released by another creator soon as well. Lots of possibilities! By the way, it's not really a game. It's some sort of a hybrid. A cross between a game and a platform because it allows you to be anything you want to be and create whatever it is you like as long as you can . |
