Elder Scrolls Online Videos: Brand New "Arrival" Cinematic Trailer (8:17)

Zenimax has released a brand new cinematic trailer, perhaps the opening cinematic for the game. Called "Arrival", the amazingly realistic video shows an epic, but very "normal" battle that is interrupted by something otherworldly known as a Dark Anchor opening a rift into Molag Bal's realm. A continuation of last year's Alliances trailer, this one's pretty incredible. It's a fantastic video that you cannot miss. Let us know what you think in the comments.

If only the game played like this.

Its just another SWTOR, with INCREDIBLE cinematics and then meh gameplay unfortunatley.

Omg - people comparing a cinematic trailer to the real game. Really, wake up to the real world.

The cinematic trailer is awesome, and the gameplay is really good :)

Trailers are like opinions, which then are like ...  you know, that other thing everyone has one of.

And in the end, they all don't matter.

--------- yes, what you saw in the video was a Dark Anchor. These spawn in the game world and are public events. It was obviously a cinematic, so you cant compare the graphics, but the skills used were representative of the skills in the game. If you want to see actual gameplay footage of a dark anchor check out http://elderscrollsonline.com/en-uk/news/post/2014/01/21/dev-play-session--group-content

The cinematic trailer really pulled me in. It would be nice to see a full length movie.

As for the game, SWTOR set the standard for how cautious I am about jumping onto the CE bandwagon. If a game can grab me for more than a year, then I would certainly buy the CE.

I really want ESO to work and to be a great game. However, I feel my standards might be too high and my hopes will come crashing back down on me.

I loved it.  I look forward to playing ESO on April 4th.  I already have my  copy paid for at Gamestop.  Obviously, I will know how much I like the game after I give it a fair amout of time playing.  I usually give a game at least a month of play time, so I can see a lot of content.  Then I can make a rational decision.  Seeing a 5 minute game play trailer or a cinematic trailer is just a taste.  I have faith in Zenimax/Bethesda.  I am confident that I will have a great time playing ESO.   Wed Jan 29 2014 4:49PM Report

I didn't really like it despite the high-quality CGI tbh. The pacing was off, there was too little story behind it. Everything just sort of happened out of nowhere.

And of course, these kinds of trailers don't really add to anything other than marketing. I sort of believe their time has come and gone for now.

blazzen67 writes: geez there are a lot of critics on here...if you want it done better, make a trailer yourself. i can tell you, after being in the last 2 beta's,  the first in november i wasnt impressed at all, then i played the last beta earlier this month. the people saying that it has "outdated graphics" have no clue what they are talking about. it looks amazing i was impressed with the graphics, much better than the majority of MMO's out there.. the game play, lore, customization, questing, crafting, character models, ALL top notch ....it was so impressed,  i pre-ordered my copy last night...my advice to the people that have not played this at all. dont listen to anyones opinion, not even me, dont even go by actual game play trailers because they are still from the BETA, form your own opinion..no one can tell you how YOU will like a game. all i know is will be enjoying this game from day one Thu Jan 30 2014 7:47AM Report

OK, now that everyone's on TS I will explain how this fight goes.

Before we aggro the boss, everyone make sure to get a token from the chest on the broken stair.  You will need that for the last phase.

Once the chains come down, as soon as the first Boss plants his staff in the ground, we need to start burning down his guardian adds.  Start with the hierarchs and work down from there.  Ignore the gargantua for now - he doesn't do anything until Phase 2.  Same for staff boss, he just does his chant this phase.

Once the adds are down, Phase 2 starts right away.  This is very important!  Ignore the gremlin adds that come off the back of the Gargantua in this phase, they are basically endless and if we take too long with this phase they will overwhelm us.  Instead, everyone hit the Gargantua.  Make sure to interrupt....he has a nasty AOE and if he gets this off more than once we will wipe.  Once he is down to twenty percent health, everyone get distance - he will roar and is basically a long AOE stun you can't resist.  Once he is done, get back to burning him down.    Once he falls, the gremlins will run away.  That's the first boss.

Phase three, the staff guy stops his chant.  We need Joe and Disko to take turns kiting him.  Everyone else starts working on the chains.  Very important!  The chains are invulnerable unless they are glowing.  The eight chains randomly light up every thirty seconds and you have to hit the one that's glowing.  If you hit the wrong one, the Staff Boss gets a buff that makes him harder to kill and he also hits harder.  Just keep working on the chains and once all eight are down the last phase starts.

At this point, the earthquake starts.  This is basically another AOE stun, area wide, but if you have decent resists you should be OK.  Everyone hit the Staff Boss.  But again, here is something very important.  He randomly will try and possess one of the PC every ten seconds.  You'll know its you when a glowing skull appears above your toon.  That's your cue to use your token.  It will dispel his possession attempt.  If you screw this up, you die and then explode, which is likely a wipe.

Everyone got it?  i will master loot the set items and we'll random roll on any purples.  If you have to pee, do it now, coz once we start its one phase after another.
