Thanks for linking a one month old video...again. And let's ignore all the best of E3 awards from places like Digital Trends (best MMO,) Game Critics Awards (best RPG,) Game Informer (best MMO,) IGN (best MMO,) etc. They've obviously all been paid-off and, as everyone in the internet knows, we here at mmorpg.com know what's best.

Gloom and doom threads are always the best for shock value and attracting the masses...just ask the Fox News editorial staff.

Guess what I'm saying today?

But hey, at least you're pulling some attention away from the EQ Next forums today.

And yet our very own MMORPG.com didn't award the game with best of MMO or RPG but the lowly "most anticipated".  I'll agree with you, we need to wait for release.  But in the mean time Zenimax needs to listen too the negativity the game is seeing from reputable sources, as well as the fans of forums and websites.

They are listening. For example, they originally weren't going to do first person, then they did. Want dont you give credit where its due. Also, are you in Closed Beta, because the leaked Q&A I read stated that the devs were listening.  Also, similar to your other thread in EQ Next, you commented about how two reputable sources gave that game best award at E3, but when a poster here posts several examples of support, since its not EQ Next all of a sudden these sources are not up to par. Complete biased crap to me. Why is it that I'm able to look forward to a game like ESO and still at the same time look forward to the hope that EQ Next lives up to the expectations? Once I try ESO, if it doesn't feel like Elder scrolls, I'll come back and bash the game which will make half of the posters here have an orgasm.

There Is Always Hope!

First off they didn't add first person view.  They added animations to first person view.

Second, yah they are listening alright, to the console kiddies!  The only people who wanted First person were the the console kiddies and the ES fanboys.  It is a completely worthless feature in an MMO.  No one other than someone who only plays solo, would ever use it.  They listened to the single player audience, and completely ignored the MMO audience telling them it was a waste of time and resources.

E3 Awards mean diddly squat, no matter who wins.

Not sure who anyone is talking to..lol with words like "haters" and "kiddies"

Not sure many people read the name of the game "Elder Scrolls Online". Every play ANY of those games?

So you want to let people play together online and yet you want to give it just a touch of mmo not a easy thing to do.

Since World of Warcraft came launched there will never be another like it. Something will come but it will have to be nothing like we have ever seen. So any kind of MMO will never be a hit like WOW is and was.

What do I care if someone plays beta loves the game or dislikes it? Until I play it I wont know. Lol how old are we? Going into to ANYTHING in life with a negative take is what you will come out with.

SIDE NOTE: What you read here is text....no more no less. Try not to let others upset you with just text.

Ever play an MMO, because it is very much not ES, or ESO.

I played Skyrim for about an hour, and I hated it.  I can understand how critics and fanboys would think the game was good at first glance, but that impression quickly fades. Sort of like GW2.

Instead of a tutorial you get a bad video with a dragon.  Which is essentially a big middle finger to anyone who is new to the series.  There are huge barren areas of nothing everywhere, and it takes forever to get anywhere.  Which is of course boring as hell, and traversing between one place to the next is a pain in the ass.  Then there is the combat.   Damn, I thought walking around was boring, lol.   You finally get somewhere, but don't get too excited because the combat was fucking terrible!!!  It feels like I am playing a fencing game on an old amiga computer or something.  Holy hell is it bad.  WTF!?

I dug a hole in the backyard, threw the game in it, and then took a huge shit on it.  Seriously, fuck that game.

Well, they can't appeal to both markets. They have to pick one, and the TES market is probably the market that is more of a known quantity. I mean, if you're going to pick a market, are you going to pick the one that's established and defined, or the one that complains about everything that exists, everything that doesn't exist, and mostly plays WoW?

For every large, complex problem, there is a simple, clear solution that also happens to be absolutely wrong.

Poor design and rehashing dead mechanics. Pain will make them grow.

I would rather watch Fox anyday over the state run television networks.

......and what dead mechanics are those?

You are most certainly entitled to your opinion, however, no one cares.

Actually, you know, I am kinda wondering why you are here? I mean if you hate the game so much, why bother posting? Though, I am pretty sure you are just trolling. I don't think anyone can actually be that retarded lol.

I honestly do not think there is much that can happen to ruin ESO chances of being a pretty large success, at least not in the first year.  You guys talk about how much influence the internet has in all of this...but that ignores a very important detail here.  The massive console market, and how little research its users tend to do.  Basically, anyone thats been buying Elder Scroll games on a console is gonna pick this up no matter what the MMO world thinks about it.  Its the same driving force that leads people to buy every new CoD game that comes out...even when some new ones play WAY worse than the last generation did.  They don't care, they roll with each release like its delicious candy.

Elder Scrolls has exactly the same kind of player behind it.  Oblivion took several steps back from Morrowind, in terms of character development and player options.  Game of the Year.  Skyrim did even more...less the player can actually do and become.  Its an even simpler game than the two before it.  Game of the Year.  Please....ESO is basically a money tree whether it sucks or not because how WE (the players on this board) define a good game has NO BEARING, apparently, on that market and what it wants to play.

So the entire internet could trash this game.  Every gaming news outlet could trash this game.  Nothing is gonna stop several million people from buying and trying it.  Myself included.  I'm buying a PS4, and I'm going to play ESO, FF, DCUO, and D3.  End of story.  No matter how bad they are, being able to just play something with a few friends from the comfort of my couch with a controller in hand is worth dealing with it.  Thats where I stand on this, and, based on what I've seen from the market over the years, its where most console gamers stand too.

Oooook so looks like some of ya'll don't like whats happened to the Elder Scrolls games...so why are ya here?

I can totally comprehend why Matt Firor says things that make people react and wonder wtf...cuz he can and it works. Any hype helps in this industry...Its simply amazing how well it works actually. You have to gleen the insight of what I am saying here. It doesn't matter if its good hype or bad hype cuz in the long run it works wonders.

Oh and whoever said they hated Skyrim didn't get the concept of the game as 12 million people bought the game and for very good reason.

EQN doesn't have to be incredible to beat out TESO, which is almost universally regarded as crap. Besides, this website lost all its credibility when it fired someone for giving SWTOR a low score.

And by universally, he means forum squatters across a veritable feast of forums known for doing little more than spewing hate and vitriol.  What he does not mean is the actual world full of people who have bought everything with an Elder Scrolls tag on it regardless of how good or bad they have progressively been.  Seriously, is there any hope for logic here these days, or have we all just decided that we can make up how the world feels on the fly as it suits our tastes?

what do you mean by "beat it out"? you mean in sales? the amount of people playing it? care to make a wager on that? or are you talking after a few years?

and no, TESO is not universally regarded as crap LOL

most people have never even seen the game before. to me TESO looks a hell of a lot better than every other themepark in development.

Do you realize that most people with some degree of skill in reading comprehension see a statement like "universally regarded" and say to themselves, "there goes another opinion without substance that can't stand on its own two feet and needs to get propped up by a logical fallacy?" There's even a name for what you do in everyone of your posts without exception. It's called argumentum ad populum.

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but the rest of us know you're just talking shit.

Ha, I was thinking the same....   The errant, ill-informed hyperbole of the complaints are over the top.   No reason that everyone needs to love Skyrim, I certainly could go on all day about how I dislike Oblivion, but that would be mostly grounded on design decisions they made during development.

As for ESO, it will, at least, not be hamstrung by the need to shoehorn it into the antiquated console models.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Universal dislike for the game?

AWESOME!

I tend to love games that are universally disliked and play them for a very long time.

Its the games with universal accords that turn out to be stale, overhyped, games that lose all of its followings a month after launch (see every major flop for proof) that or games for simpletons who want their hand held and their decisions super obvious (if theres any decisions to be made)

Either way, this is all great news for me.  I might actually have a non-sandbox game (all sandboxes are universally hated for being full loot and different) to enjoy now!

Trolls are little kids that resort to name calling instead of making arguments, like above.

Because the game, ESO, is supposed to be an MMO, and not a single player fad.  But the devs seem to have lost hope, and went that way.  It is our job to direct them back the other way, so that we get a game worth playing more than 1 month.

Skyrim is such a cultural stable fad that merely insulting it is a social taboo.  Its like Apple computers, JFK ,or Marilyn Monroe.  People religiously defend it, but they don't know why.  They might even be completely ignorant of the subject, but they will still defend it with anything they have, which is usually insults.

TESO in a nutshell,

GW2 set in Tamriel.
