The Skilldelay is a ping problem.

Every MMORPG seems to be affected by times.

The problem with these "Toolbox games" is the Toolbox itself and how it works on the backend.

Its far cheaper to use a Toolbox like Hero then code new things and let em grow and mature inhouse.

 

You guys remember drag and drop website editors ?

Its a good example how this kind of games is created nowadays.

We got a good laught on the code, these toolboxes had created ..

I got this for the first time last night. I have been playing this game, somewhat casually since Early access and this was the first time I have experienced any sort of ability lag/delay.

Havok is a physics engine only.

Not claiming I know much about it, but right on that site it says:

Full Havok Vision Engine licenses include licenses for Havok Physics, Havok AI, as well as Autodesk Scaleform and Autodesk Beast.

Looks to me like there is something to be said saying Havok is physics only. Again, not that I am an expert there.

 

Also, Google ESO Hero Engine

The 1st few hits talk about ZM licensing the engine in 2007, but never used it in the game.

 

I find it interesting how video games have the lowest success rate and the highest totals raised in all Kickstarter projects.

I've run into this problem several times on my Sorcerer.  I don't know if it's an LOS issue or lag.  There will be nothing obstructing my view of the target, my skills are lit up and yet when I try to use one it won't work.  I'll move slightly to the left or right or get closer and it will work. Like I said, its only happened several times and it is annoying but it isn't frequent enough to where its hindering gameplay for me.

Yeah it's definitely not a ping problem.

I played GW2 for a long time, and did mainly PvP.  In GW2, I played Elementalist mainly, and I would very frequently fire off several actions, including attunement swapping (weapon swap), in like a fraction of a second.  

In ESO, I'm lucky to swap my weapon within ONE second, which is huge in a game with PvP.  Even worse, it is unpredictable...sometimes it happens quickly, sometimes it decides to do nothing for a while and you have to repeatedly press the button.

So since I have super smooth combat in GW2, yet some of ESO's abilities are unresponsive...there's no way it's a ping problem.

I get it, too. It's random. I don't dare keep my healing on one bar only. I've learned that the hard way.

This is easily my number one complaint with the game. Skills are so unresponsive it's unbelievable. Sometimes its fine other times forget it. Even worse there are times where things completely glitch out and nothing works at all until I hit escape twice. I had to remap interrupt because it would never work with both mouse buttons. Blocking only works on the huge windups so you can block a good second before the swing. Pots rarely work, you press it, nothing happens so you mash the key down and then it goes into select a pot mode.

Between this and veteran levels being so tedious solo I'm pretty much done with the game.

Are you sure you aren't being stunned? It isn't always obvious. I was finding I couldn't use an attack in combat and then worked out I was stunned and couldn't do anything for a few seconds. Maybe that's it.

Very different issue than what swtor had. Swtor was hit the button and 1 sec later the animation and the skill fired everytime.

 

Like you said when ESO skills don't fire it has to deal with either your animation or the target animation. I do agree that this stuff needs to be smoothed out. I also think we should be able to set dedicated keys for skill bars.

I agree - SWTOR's issue, sadly, was an across the board flaw while ESO it seems to be more intermittent. I don't think ESO's issue is nearly as big as SWTOR's.
