War is not the ultima ratio, but the ultima irratio - Willy Brandt

We already know that it wont have a monthly fee.

"There''s a time and a place for everything, and it''s called college." - Chef

It will use a similar payment model as the previous game, Guild Wars. Apart from that not much can be said about Guild Wars 2 as not much information has been released about - so basically you're hoping that it will become sweet not knowing it.

i really wish that ANET will release more info abt GW2 soon. all im looking forward to is the GW2 beta coming 2nd half of 2008, which can be as late as december, so im not holding my breath

my only worry abt GW2 is its launch. looking at the much-hyped AoC and itz dismal and very buggy launch, i got to thinking that GW2 better not be like that. i know GW1 was one of the best MMO launches, i hope it'll be the same for GW2, smooth and bug-free (well at least not game breaking)

I put my e-dollars that Anet will release a wonderfuly polished game. The first game if you want to consider a mmo. Was by faaaaaar the best release of a massive online game. The previews ran great, there was a ton of content to review on fansites prior to release, the gameplay was fleshed out and balanced, the updating system was marvelous etc, there wasn't a single negative that I can recall. You can like the game play or not, but the release and engine is a techincal marvel in today's pc gaming environment.

Just that alone is one of the main reason I have GW2 on the top of my list.

I'd hardly call the launch dismal. Buggy, maybe, but 700 000 copies shipped on day 1 is nowhere near dismal. Hopefully GW2 will sell that well, if not better.

It will be sweet when they actually start showing and sharing some info on the game. I know they will show and give out info when they are ready but its almost been 1.5 years since they announced GW2. Patience is really a virtue on this one.

My opinion is that they're going to release a load of information at once to suddenly boost their hype ratings. Making us hungry for more is a good marketing strategy.

I'm certain that is what it is, they will be ready and sure of themselves when they get this rolling.

There is already information on the game.
 wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2

Technical

There will be no monthly fee associated with Guild Wars 2 to keep up the tradition of Guild Wars. Mike O'Brien has stated that expansions or mini-expansions are more likely than standalone campaigns, but a final decision hasn't been made yet.

Guild Wars 2 will be written to run on computers with moderate specifications, but will have higher requirements than Guild Wars.

The original Guild Wars will continue to be supported after release of Guild Wars 2. This will include continued holiday events and tournaments.

Controls

The control system is going to be significantly changed (in particular mouse movement in the form "click to move" will be removed from the game), however target locking will still function. Guild Wars 2 will introduce a Z-axis to the game which will allow characters to jump over obstacles. Actions which have characters interacting with the environment, such as sliding and swimming will also be introduced.

Graphics

James Phinney indicated in his "Imagining Guild Wars 2" article that polygon counts and texture allowances have been increased so he expects it to look beautiful and "look like a whole new game". Gaile has indicated the game will support DirectX 10, but not require it to play.

Persistence

The game will be on multiple servers or "worlds," but players will not be bound to a world and may therefore change worlds as they would districts, except that they encompass the entire game, instead of just an outpost.

There will be changes to the instancing system used. Persistent areas, similar to those traditionally used in other online multiplayer games, will be introduced to Guild Wars which may allow players to meet and interact while exploring.

Instances will still be used for missions and dungeons.

An "Event System" will be used to notify players of big events
