Let me preface this that I know that PoE is F2P, but that in my book does not give it any free passes as far as game stability or technical issues, I know that some posters feel like it if it's F2P it doesn't matter how crappy the service is, but I disagree.

1. The server disconnects.... happening far too often, not sure what the issue is, the game just got patched but it still happens a lot.

2. I zoned and the game crashed, then on restart I was getting "Fatal error: The pack file has corruption that can be fixed by running reclamation" - running packcheck.exe - same error.

You know what the only fix is? Downloading a 5GB Content.ggpk - worst game design decision EVER, to put so much stuff into a single large file that apparently can be easily corrupted.

I don't even remember the last time I had a corrupted file, seriously - maybe like mid 90s?

Lesson learned folks - make a copy of your content.gppk file as it can get corrupted and then you have to download it again *5GB*, there is no other fix.

3. BSOD with Creative Labs sound cards (I have one of those sound cards and had a BSOD tonight) - another known issue - the fix is to add --noaudio after the PoE shortcut exe, check the link below for full details:

Apparently this is a known issue - and the whole "running reclamation" thing is not implemented yet - so yeah, ouch.

Here's a response from Grinding Gear:

"We don't have reclimation tech in the patcher yet, sadly! The only real solution is to delete the content.ggpk file and download it again. You can also grab a copy of this file off a friend, and I'd suggest making a backup of it if possible in case the same thing happens again!"

Who did wrong? The advertiser hired to sell the game or the consumer who put faith in advertising?

I know that it's beta - heh, but having a patcher that can't fix a corrupted 5GB file is an *alpha* type problem, as well as a BSOD that I didn't know about until I found the fix for it.

Also GGG is already taking money so to me that's production already, no matter what they call it.

Well clearly that production money should be for your issue not any other issue. Your the boss.

Ok, do you know it is an indie company privately funded without the advantages of QA a AAA company would have?

Its not my issue, look a the tech section on official forums, the problem is affecting many players.

I posted solutions so maybe it will be helpful to some.

Yes I know this as well, and I should give them slack for that, why?

When a company releases an online game, they are competing with all other games in their genre, the product is what is judged, if it was developed by 3000 devs and a budget of $2 billion, or one guy with zero investment - the games still stand on their own as products and should be judged on their own merit.

This game is now in open beta. The money they have accepted is all donations and you get what you get as a return. It's not retail yet. beside's its a free game. You'r not forced to ever pay a cent. If you choose to you get the joy's of a game you didn't donate to. Just curious what game's did you yourself take part in actually making? Or is this like the fellow who watches football and keeps screaming at the coaches  saying how he would do this and that due to he know's better than the paid person running the team?

Op this is a gaming forum, you should be reporting your issues to the devs as per what you should be doing for a game I beta.

rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (1000 hrs on main mage)> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (230 hours mage) > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(900 elementalist)

Now playing Wildstar, AOW 3

I agree with your points, I just don't see how its related to the technical issues with the beta.

My personal experience or even views has no relevance regarding the technical bugs I brought up. I posted links that clearly show that these are issues affecting many players.

Gamers who complain about F2P betas remind me of homeless people who get upset that the free soup is cold and has no salt...

The fact that POE has in-game moderators and is working well within a very mean community to release an indie game thatis already loved by the players who are trying to enjoy it speaks volumes...

Ever try to get some customer support from Facebook....

Free is free..period...you can't gripe over free...well you can..and you are..and this reserves you a special place in Hell right next to the hoarders and wasters....

By your logic, I can't complain about my car breaking down constantly because I haven't built a car. I can't complain about a movie I saw being bad because I haven't made a film. I can't complain about a meal I've eaten because I've never prepared the same dish. I can't criticize someone's artwork because I've never been an artist. I can't say that a certain author is terrible because I haven't written a book. I can't... well, you get the point. Where does it end?

Sorry, but the whole, 'You can't complain about a game because you haven't made one!", argument is just idiotic.

I will also point out that to those who bought founder's packs, the game wasn't exactly 'free' either.
