When i saw that first xpac in the series ,i was like you kidding me?It's like 10 hours of game play maybe less. They have really turned the corner on cheap gaming lately,so bad is their current direction i have not played FFXI in about 6 months now.My issues actually go back further with their handling of the game, and that WOTG xpac. This is when i started to see a developer moving in the wrong direction trying to feed us cheap junk just because we were loyal FFXI fans.It did not end their they introduced a new security feature, like we shouldn't expect security to begin with?Well i guess not they figured we should pay them 10 bucks for this security and further tried to bribe us.If they figured we needed added storage space why would they tie that into the 10 dollar security feature, that should have been implemented as a separate feature because we needed it.
My final straw ,was when i heard they were making some adjustments to the classes ,i thought well about time only 5 years later.IMO they had timers done wrong and some classes were just awful when comes to Square giving them what they deserve, then other classes seem to be favored and given preferential treatment.
So finally they release this first update,i could not believe for one second they gave the RDM class added love in the game,it would have been the VERY last class in the game that needed any help at all.The RDM class has more tools more abilities and more ways to solo than any class in the game, and they spent time here instead of the most needed help witch was the PLD.So i figured who ever is in charge of these decisions has not got a clue about the actual game and how it is played,so i just give up and have not played since.
I can't even remember how many classes at least 16 maybe 20?to think someone in that house actually thought the first job that needed any help in the game was RDM,was like flicking an on/off switch ,i thought ...IDIOTS.So needless to say they won't be getting another cent from me,I hope this trend does not continue,i definitely see some of the same trends in FFXIV .
I'd prefer full expansions, but I enjoy the mini updates. $10 is less than a cheap dinner and movie. I've gotten reuse out of them beyond completing the final battles. I love the regular content updates, no one has story like FFXI. The new WOTG missions have been win! I've tried many MMOs, but this is the only one that's kept me satisfied for over five years. FFXI is unique. For those who have invested in this world, there's nothing out there close to it.
