it is going to be way to expensive for the playstation 2

you are going to need:

a new harddrive for your ps2

a network adaptor

(option) Router

(option but clearly necciary) a keyboard

and a few other things

This totals to about $298

if u think it is worth paying 298 bucks on a game for the ps2

(oh yea not and the montly and charater fee)

you are nuts.

just get it for the computer its WAYYYY Cheaper.

ok here is the rundown  ffxi  and the hard drive will be sold together for 99 dollars us  and yes a key board it opt but you need it and olny abut $20   also the network abpter is olny 30-40 bucks depending on where you buy it   the you have the 12.95 a month

so i dont know how you did your math but it come out to about 160.00 us  and that is rounding up  then just add the 12.95 for every month you play pass the first month  and that is free

You can also take away that 35-40 dollars for the network adapter in cases where people have had them previous to FFXI.  I still say get the PC version.  It wil be out sooner and I trust the true and tested pc over something that just came out (I know its been out in Japan but nontheless) and technology that is still budding.

But then again I trust the graphics of my PS2 to hold up better, but that just means I need a new computer.
