Do you still need help getting these done, or can you duo them. Always loved the game, but all I ve read is good luck getting your limit breaks done now.

Yes you still need help, it's not as hard to get as you might think. Luckily the drop rate seems to have improved on these items greatly. The first time I did this years ago I spent hours in Crawler's nest alone. Me and my friend were able to get all 3 very quickly. I think the one that took the longest was the Papryrus and we only had to kill 6 Liches.

The other limit break quests aren't so bad because you can do them in either a large group or solo them on your own if you have sneak and invis. The one I can see getting stuck on is the Maat fight, since you level so fast your skills are way underleveled so you'll need to skill up. It's been a week and a half and I'm alread lvl 56 rank 5, will probably be lvl 70 and rank 6 with some zilart and CoP done by the end of the weekend at this rate. Not too shaby for 2 weeks.

You definitely still need a good bit of help for most of them.  Fortunately, FFXI seems to have one of the most friendly player bases; so it's usually not too difficult to get into a helpful linkshell and find people to help you out.

4 friends and I bought the $9.99 complete FFXI package from steam in early January.  Our goal was really just to do the Maat fight for old time's sake.  It was fun, but mostly because of the nostalgia.  I wouldn't say any of the gameplay was enjoyable in itself--the endless walking, the auto attack combat, mindless alliance combat with no skillchains or magic bursts (the only redeeming part about the game's slow combat that features only a few abilities, all on 3-6 minute cooldowns), and then, of course, the tedious limit break quests.

The level 50 quest will either require a level 99 to go solo kill the liches for you, or a full group of level 50s with all your weapon skills kept current (which becomes difficult because of the fast leveling.)  It was definitely a deadly endeavor for us, depending on how deep in you wanted to go.  We got help for the level 55 quest as well.  Considering how much we were missing the bosses, we probably needed it.  We did the level 60 one ourselves.  It was just a lot of traveling, and frequent use of sneak and invis (which can now often be purchased at the beginning of most dungeons from a book.)

Overall, it's just a LOT of walking around, a lot of farming for rare drops (sometimes they come quickly; sometimes they take forever,) and a lot of alliance combat where you do very little and feel mostly powerless (basically just doesn't feel very rewarding.)  The most interactive gameplay seems to come in the form of navigating the maze of maps.

It should be noted that I didn't get to the new Abyssea content before I let my account expire.

i remember back in the day this game was ravaged by  rmts. Since they have gone away things seem to drop easily. This game was good in its  day.  I like the crafing system i thought thats what made this game stand out. and stills does to this day.

What server are you on if you are on Rangarok send me a PM here with your info? Also if you are already lvl 56 you do not need help with any of the limit breaks until 95. The two of you at 70 would be able to farm testimonys together no problem  and the 50 and 55 cap are the only ones that require any fighting before that.  The Lvl 60 cap is just snk/inv around in castle O, beaudux, and davoi and 65 is just trading kindred seals to various npcs. 75-90 are just stupid mini games and trading merits points and seals. It isn't until you hit 95 where you are going to need help and honestly nowadays it's not too hard to find people to help with that. Just the other day people were shouting for it and they were 5/6. With RDM/DNC and MNK/DNC you guys are going to be able to duo the first part of it too which is farming the stone but you will need 6 for killing that stupid taru. Luckily mnk and hundred fists is highly sought after for that fight and you will need some healing so your RDM will fit nicely as well
