Greetings everyone. I am thinking about coming back to play FFXI. I thought I still had my disks, but it seems like they have gone missing. I am ok with purchacing the game again from Steam. I was wondering though, if I do get the game from Steam, is there a way to play as my old character or will I have to begin anew? Thanks! |

If you have all of your old credit card information, it is possible to recover your Square Enix ID from tech support. But I don't recommend coming back... I have a couple of very long articles on this forum describing way, just flip back a few pages. |

I'll be signing up again as well. If you're on the Phoenix server, send me a PM here and maybe we can team up. |

Have to agree about staying away. I decided to come back when they released the ultimate collection and I was quickly shown that the game is not only a completely different experience and not in a good way, but it is pretty unfriendly to new characters. Finding regular leveling groups is a thing of the past because the only way to level now apparently is book burning which just isnt fun at all. After a couple of these quick exp type of groups and figuring out that nobody wants to level the way people used to, I left with 2 weeks stil remaining on my free month. Keep in mind that although I was a fresh character, I wasn't a new player. RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray. |

I found that the most glaring issue with FFXI now is the social detachment. Most of the population that's still there has already been through everything. I got back into it a few months ago, but stopped playing because as fun as it was to see all the new content, there just wasn't anyone to really share it with. With the number of changes that have been steadily introduced over the past few months, I feel my interest renewed. I'm going to make a conscious effort to round up a few players, and maybe try to create a semi-static party of new-ish and competent players. I might not be able to, but I'd really like to try. Again, my character name is Stimpack and I'll be on the Phoenix server tomorrow (that is, if their billing system will comply with me) |

I'd also like to say that their forums are absolutely barren. Good luck trying to find new players there. |
