To all who wonder how you can have a late fee, or play with no money in your bank account. With SE you pay after you play. When i reactivate my account after quitting, (perhaps on the 10th of the month), SE doesn't charge my CC until the 1st of the next month. Everyone knows SE only bills on the 1st. So... I reactivate my account, then cancel my CC. Now I just got to play FFXI from the 10th, to the 1st of the next month for free. SE is just going to put a late fee and interest on the money I just hosed them (depending on how many accounts i activated, or even for just a single account). And SE probably didn't even go after this guy to recoup anything, I'm willing to bet this guy reactivated his account(s) and had some nasty late fees, old subscription fees, etc. from when he thought he'd pull one over on SE, and they just stuck him right back. Two days later, I am charged the full monthly fee again for November. You are correct that they charge on the first of every month, but it IS for the month ahead, not the month you've already played. |

OKay my question is this They say that as soon as a payment is missed they suspend your account. (okay i can understand this) but this.. "in order to reactivate your account. Before reactivation of your account, all delinquent Subscription Fees will be charged to the valid payment method newly registered"
How can they charge you for "Delinquent sub, fees" when you have not gone passed payed usage time due to immediate deactivation? |

I can sum up this lawsuit in two words (or one compound word): gold-digger.
(I'm referring to the woman who filed this baseless lawsuit.) |

To be fair, I always thought that SE's billing system could use a revamping, and in FFXIV it looks like that will happen, but for the most part it works the way it says it does. If your account is active during any given month, you will be charged for that month, no questions asked. My only real gripe is that they charge the same day every month rather than the anniversary of your subscription every 30 days like, say... WoW does. If anything comes out of this lawsuit, that might be for them to change the billing system before FFXIV is released, but I'm guessing it won't happen. SE's ToS was crafted by lawyers who are familiar with this kind of stuff, after all. |

The only I can say about this is, when I was trying out FFXI recently I found really confusing the account creation and game installation, I was like: "I hope all this goes ok, I have no idea what I am doing", and all this confusing situation helped in my final decision of not subbing to the game. I didnt even knew where I needed to pay once I had finished installing programs, the game client and giving my info. So maybe they have pseudo hidden fees. I mean, not actual hidden fees but a confusing system in wich most people may not know they are going to be charged about something. -=AlaKraM=- |

I cant tell you how much this has annoyed me. RAHHHH!
We should all get together and pay the guy who's sueing a visit and execute him. We can charge him with high treason against the Grand Duchy of Jeuno.

Well I checked my billing this month and for some reason they did not take out any monthly fee but this month they took out double. Now what if I only put money in my account for the game and only put in enough for 1 month? Will they be able to do all this stuff to my account due to them not charging my fee one month but double charge me for both of the months? Now if what I just said had happened to this person then yes there is a lawsuit but can't be in the name of SE it would have to be PlayOnline. So personally I don't think there are hidden fee's but the fact that they want to not charge me one month then double charge me the next month is complete BS I should have to pay the initial 12.95 then 1.00 per ID.
But I will be finding out exactly why this happened because I do think its BS since I pay a monthly fee not every other month and I will seek money back for this because it was their mistake and not mine so they will have to pay me back the money. |

when i started playing ffxi. last summer. i too was double charged for my accounts that i had 2 or more characters on. i have 3 accounts from long ago and i addedan xbox 360 one. at first i just thought i was charged at the same time for 2 + 2 accounts but when i got me credit card statment. i saw 7 charges. 3 of the accounts double charged. i thought at the time it might be because of the newest expansion, and server moves. but i saw those charges on my other credit card. i forgot i had to use a 2nd card for the other charges. at the time i had the extra money so didn't really worrie at first. stil had one other idea that mabe they charge for 2 months at a time. the next month comes i cancled on of the accounts now just 3 active. i go on the playonline thing and see they charged me double again. now i know it's not for 2 months. or server change expansion ect. they are just charging double. i quit ffxi instantly. it would be one thing if this was happening to one account. but to 3 of them. oh and having to pay longdistant fees to get this resolved really pissed me off. and it took hours just to get through to the hold line. only on hold for 5 min i think. they weren't sure what happened. they first said it was the server change .i was somehow being charges for both servers. like split account or something. i can't remember exactly what they said. but in the end i could not get the money back just another month free. great and i quit the game anyways i have no trust for square enix. oh then the fun 6 month after. one of my accounts become active and changes servers. i see the charges on my cerdit card. my account hacked and the guy used my info in the account to activate and server change. and again square enix wouldn't give money back and would suspand the account as i couldn't find my cd key or first cc i used to activate the account yrs ago. bu tat least suspended it. but again no money back. i contacted mastercard and told them what happened and they did a charge back or something . i got the money back from this day forword i think it's best to use prepaid credit cards or game cards. and only have what you need on it i spent most of this yr playing free mmorpgs. and gone back to my classic everquest SOE has never screwed me
