Before i begin, id like to say anyone answering my questions will be rewarded with one fish stick with a dipping sauce of custard.

Basically Im starting back and the last I played was 2007-08, and im sure tons have changed and I was hoping for some help.

First, playonline isnt letting me create an account, so im basically unsure how to even get started now, so some help would be awesome ^^;;

Also, are there any good populated servers with a lot of RP?

Hows the economy overall?

Ive also heard that you now level much differently, could anyone explain the difference?

Does Garlaige Citadel still make you suicidal?

Do the wild Manthras still prey on pervs?

Are servers populated/helpful for noobies?

Remember, 1 fish stick per answer, and thank you in advance ^_^;

All of history is a lie. The truth depends on who does the listening, and who does the telling...

First, playonline isnt letting me create an account, so im basically unsure how to even get started now, so some help would be awesome ^^;;  May have something to do with your FFXI account needing to be linked through the SE website. I am unsure since I haven't done this in while but customer support can assist.

Also, are there any good populated servers with a lot of RP?  I don't know that there is a strong RP group on any servers anymore, but I do know that Pheonix was pretty active the last time I played about 4 months ago.

http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/365899/page/1  is a good place to go to get ahold of a pretty friendly group. Their website is http://returnersffxi.enjin.com/home if youd prefer to speak directly to them. The LS was all about doing the games content and helping new and returning players

Hows the economy overall?  About the same although game changes have made some of the stuff not necessary anymore.

Ive also heard that you now level much differently, could anyone explain the difference? Besides level sync, the difference is you can form up and do these things called pages from a book that reward you with money and exp upon completion. SO you could go with a party and all sync to the lowest members level (say 30) and repeat killing the pages required mobs. After a while the exp rate increases the longer you stay together and do the pages. Pretty fun. Also if you are high level, you keep your gear and such and only down level and lose skills and HP/MP.

Does Garlaige Citadel still make you suicidal? No. Seee the above example. A page can be done that requires citadel bats and beetles to be killed so you blow through the area pretty fast.

Do the wild Manthras still prey on pervs?  No because a lot of the players have moved on. I also never ran into this because I stayed doing things with the LS.

Are servers populated/helpful for noobies? This can vary but as I mentioned, I only stayed with my LS buddies and they were more than helpful. I'd still be playing if school and wife didn't require so much of my time.

Remember, 1 fish stick per answer, and thank you in advance ^_^;

Hope that helped a little.

RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.

Does Garlaige Citadel still make you suicidal?

Not at all. You wont even need to step foot in there.

Do the wild Manthras still prey on pervs?

Concidering there are no girls on the internet this would be true for just about every race in FFXI. Gotta love those internet relationships...

Are servers populated/helpful for noobies?

Populated with newbies? No, not at all. You may find some groups but it is rare. FFXI is at a stage where you can solo / lowman / burn all your levels now. Beware of people who warn you against burning your jobs in abyssea. These people are generally noobs to begin with and just hate because they suck. Burning a job or two is fina as long as you're capping your skills and understand the basic concepts of the game.

There are usually a few shells on each server that are newbie friendly. One of my LSs does some endgame events yet still allow new players to join.

Here are some links for you to get caught up to speed (if that is possible). I hope you enjoy reading...
