It's pretty hard to get the newest expancion packs in poland.. I'm thinking about Toau and WotG.. I have the rest and was wandering weather it's worth to start playing the game or maybe most players spend all their time in those new areas and I will be left behind. =] |

You're going to need Aht Urghan eventually. That has a lot of exp areas the people use now. You should see about getting in online somewhere. I think they're coming out with the bundle in the UK soon. |

I wouldn't let not being able to get the ToAU or WoTG expansions stop you from getting the game. The only problems i can see is if you want to lvl blu, cor, pup, dnc, or sch. If you want to lvl any of the other jobs you won't need ToAU until around lvl 50+ so you can get into the game and see about getting it later possibly. Also i'm pretty sure you can get them online from Germany or England. I'd go with Germany though gotta hate that British pound. Oh and BTW Sati I hope you leave your game on because of bazaar and you don't actually play 100+ hours a week that would be insane. |

The "Core" game comes with the Rise of Zilart expansion. You cannot purchase the game without at least that expansion. As for the Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urgan, and Wings of the Goddess expansions: CoP: You will not be doing anything in these areas until lvl 30 at the earliest. There are a few areas that are good for soloing at lower levels, but most XP parties will not XP in these areas. You could skip this expansion until lvl 60 or so. If the job you are playing will benifit from the lvl 50 job-specific body armor obtained through rare/exclusive drops from mobs in CoP areas you may want to get this earlier. If the JSE is bettered by gear obtainable through an easier method (bought on auction house, for example) don't worry about getting it. The majority of the mission involved in this expansion have level caps (job is reduced to maximum level when entering the area for that mission) it is possible to start the missions at lvl 30 and continue them as you progress in level. This will save you the trouble of obtaining gear for those levels when you are ready to do them later, but it is far from required to do it this way. The final rewards for this Mission set are excellent (access to an endgame area known as "Sea" and a ring of your choice with some great stats on it) and you will certainly want to finish this story line eventually. ToAU: You will get nothing out of this expansion until lvl 50+, however, once you reach that level you will absolutely need this expansion. Very few people will even think of having an XP party go anywhere outside of the ToAU areas once they hit lvl 55. The missions for this story line will require a great deal of help and a lvl 70+ job for the most part. Also, the rewards for this story line are fairly lackluster. This should not keep you from getting this expansion as there are other benefits to having this expansion. WotG: There are some great areas to level at very low levels 13+ in this expansion, but as these levels pass quickly and you would be soloing in these areas, rather than partying, you can skip this expansion until lvl 50+ when Campaign Battles are a great way to get XP while lookng for group. As with all of the expansions for FFXI the expansion is never released as a finished product. They update the game with new items, areas, mobs, missions, quests, etc. every few months. This may seem annoying at first, but it does serve to keep you occupied between expansions. As such the full impact of this expansion on the game is not yet know. At the time of this post the expansion is not really neccessary until you want to start taking part in campaign battles.
To sum up: Yes, you can absolutely start the game with just the "Core" game, but plan on getting the expansions before long. |
