Were Mythic weapons made to rival Relic weapons? |
|
Final Fantasy Team:
|
The weapons were designed differently and for different purposes. The Mythic weapons are focused where as the Relic weapons were design for the big damage. |

What does the physical potency merit do for a Blue Mage? |
|
Final Fantasy Team:
|
The same it does for all. It increases the accuracy of physical magic attacks. |

What is “critical magic” on the Witch sash? |
|
Final Fantasy Team:
|
Magic crits. Your magic hits harder. No, there isn’t a message, just once in a while, you see your magic do more damage. At this time, it is the only item in game with this effect, but it will go on more items soon. |
Job Specific Questions

Are you pleased with where the Dancer and Scholar jobs are at this point in time? |
|
Final Fantasy Team:
|
The Dance and Scholar were originally planned to be valuable sub-jobs. We are very pleased to see that they are going according to plan, but now, with merit abilities and relic armor being introduced, we hope that they will also become viable main jobs. |

What are you doing about balance among the various jobs? |
|
Final Fantasy Team:
|
There’s actually a lot of job adjustments in the works and will begin to be introduced beginning in the spring. In particular, we are looking at Red and White Mage adjustments. |

Are there any jobs that the team sees that FFXI still needs? |
|
Final Fantasy Team:
|
We will add jobs if opportunity allows it. We started with the base six then started to add flavors. There’s a lot of care that has to be taken. We have to make sure that there is no overlap or minimal overlap in jobs, and make sure that one job won’t make another obsolete. Then once we do add the new jobs, we will make adjustments as we watch the trends and how players play them. If we find that players are not playing a particular job, we look at it to see if it is underpowered somewhere and make adjustments. |

Are there any plans to expand Merits or allow for the re-application of them? |
|
Final Fantasy Team:
|
The game accommodates a lot of versatility players can change their character’s jobs, but Merit points provides the variation between characters as it provides the specialization within a job. So there will be no consideration of re-application of Merit points. However, caps will be looked at and raised if necessary. |
I will be the first to comment.
I do not for one minute believe there heart is into making all jobs playable and equal. It has long been a fact that the RDM is the best solo job in the game,or at least the most versatile, come level 75.Jobs like DRK have ALWAYS been shunned and the latest help they got was pretty much for the high level drk,so that did nothing to garner new drk players.
Someone didn't like or was jealous of the rngr class so they decided to make it harder and not allow it to melee or at least deter from melee. The fact is that the rngr class always had a accy bonus, not much use if your not melee lol. There is also the fact it is probably the weakest defensive class in the game,so the obvious tradeoff is top notch attack for the weakest defense, that seems fair to me.
They nerfed the sammy early on because again some were jealous of there output damage.Well Square has done nothing really to aid a sammy into a tank role as the AF gear states, and it has made there attacks sort of second rate as well. Most jobs have 4/5/6/7x attack they gave the sammy 2x lol.
Now i hear they are going to do something to rdm and whm?i cannot think of ANY help they need at all.A 75 whm can solo pretty darn good and can also dish out some decent dmg with the right gear,of course the kraken club helps lol.
RDM ? lol ,the perfect farming job in a game that has a horrible economy and i bet they are going to make it even better.I would say the PLD is LONG over due for some kind of love and the DRK and DRG could also use something. The RDM would be my LAST choice on the list for needing any help.I would bet the house that they are not planning on nerfing the RDM in ANY way.
Oh ya they nerfed the ninja tanking by making shadows lower the hate stream...why?again this tells me they had some inside people whine about the ninja being such a good tank, there is no other reason to make the move they made.Besides that the game NEEDS more tanking, let alone try to make one of the tanking jobs weaker lmao dumb idea.
IMO,square makes moves based off there friends and or guild mates as they all play the game or most of them do.The original design of ALL the jobs i was ok with,it showed a lot of thought, but of course like they say,if no one is playing certain jobs, then give them a reason to by helping the job. There should be NO other reason to make changes to the jobs, they were perfectly fine in there original state.
IMO Square needs to quit making things that draw players away from other things in the game, that has been there apparent goal everyttime they add something.Like level 50+ is auto matic Aht Urghan, the old zones are useless to play now and wit hthe bonus xp in aht urghan there is no reason to go elsewhere.I actually ran int osome players who didn't have the expansion,so they were left out to dry.Square brought in the campaigns,so now tons of players were standing there casting spells over and over gaining XO w/o even taking part in the actual battles. The yrealized there mistake now,but do they really? or was it planned to keep some of there personal friends happy?who knows maybe i sound like a conspiracy theorist, but i have seen some things in the game that showed the obvious.
GREAT GREAT game, but some of the people on the inside have made some poor decisions.
Yeah... I thought the second part had some interesting info in it too... >.>
Seriously... I wouldn't say you "maybe" sound like a conspiracy theorist.. I would say you sound like a full-on, card-carrying conspiracy theorist. I mean, when you can look at that many things and draw a connection back to SE people helping out their friends... ya need quite the imagination to make a stretch like that.
Some GMs, perhaps, taking advantage of their powers to do favors for friends of theirs in-game? Sure.. I can believe that because the incidents are isolated and not game-wide, and you hear about things like that in other MMOs from time to time. However, making changes to how a single job performs, which affect the entire game and everyone playing it, with the intention of only helping out a few close friends? Err... sorry that's a bit far-fetched.
No changes SE make to the game are in a bubble. Any change they make to a given job affects 10s of thousands of people playing that job... not only a "chosen few" they intended to benefit with it.
I dunno... I've had my times where I questioned things SE's done (such as why an 8 foot tall chocobo can't step over a 2 inch high bump in the ground), but I've never gone so far as to find conspiracy theories in any of it.

QFT. OP is insane.
Ahhhh, Part 2. The part that actually had some information (the last 2/3 of it at least) that could be deemed as new information. Again, I think this was too short of a discussion but at least it did answer a few things. As to the conspiracy theory guy.
You seriously need to be on some meds man. You think the developers (of which there are dozens at any given time) are trying to help only their friends with game balances? Seriously? I don't think Van Gogh could have painted a better conspiracy theory. True that some of SE's moves leave players scratching their heads sometimes (i've made mine bleed on some of them) and their lack of moves to some problems have also befuddled me but to think they would make such far reaching changes for a few people is borderline insanity.
However, I'm interested to see what changes are coming to the RDM and WHM although i've heard glimpses of it being more front line friendly (Not sure how as they're squish factor is only outdone by lolDRK's) but anything to add a new aspect is great. RDM/NIN is a great solo job and one i've not messed around with much (I intend to soon as RDM75 and NIN37) but in the next few months plan on getting joyeuse and leveling sword up beyond cap of RDM50.
What I would LIKE to see is some thought and effort put into stopping RMT's without crippling the new player base by getting rid of the only ways they really have of making money. The new fishing thing is a travesty that I hope everyone complains about as that's about the only good income a low level noob can do. To make it where you must be level 20 is just stupid with a side of extra stupid. "The Dooms™" (Valkrum Dunes) is bad enough without broke new players with no subjobs not able to afford even the mediocre gear they could already afford to get.
I just wish SE would listen to their fan base a bit more. Make some changes from their suggestions instead of the "We know what's best for you" attitude they seem to get sometimes.
