This game is for the laid back players. Definately not for the same crowd that wants the speed of WoW. I can see this community growing into one of the better RPG communities going. This is not FPS and thank god. Theres plenty of FPS games out already. The speed and mood of this game lends itself greatly to RPG which is something seriously lacking in the games of today. It's a true MMORPG! Whens the last time you heard that?! First i just walked around a bit getting used to the point and click movement and the camera angles. It took a bit to get used to and i would like first person with arrow key movements.. i guess everquest spoiled me a bit on that. I have a Sony Vaio P4 3ghz ATI 9200 and 1 gig of ram. The default settings ran fine for me. I had no lag or choppy graphics. I did have a problem with the sound.. There wasnt any but since this is beta things like that are to be expected. Secondly i decided to try blacksmithing which also lead me to alchemy to refine the materials i needed. I never actually got to the crafting portions in the 3 hours or so i spent. I was mostly havesting ore and wood. Money isnt that bad in the game. They start you out with plenty to get you going and the harvested materials actually sell at a good price so its easy to go out harvesting and buy whatever else you may need. As i said this game lends itself to rpg. Theres no immediate urge to go out and start grinding. I dunno if you even can LOL. The graphics are nice. They aren't groundbreaking by any means ofcourse this is only beta 2 so who knows what they'll look like when they go live. I found it to be a very pleasurable alternative to EQ. I think anyone who wants to play an RPG adventure game would love it. It's most definately not like WoW or EQ so if thats what your expecting or thats what your looking for you need to stick to what your playing. Anyway i plan on giving beta 2 some real time and helping the devs work out whatever i can. They are to be commended for their creativity and their will to be different. In these days its just way to easy to build a clone and rip off everyone elses work. Thanks Wish team for a truly unique game. |

You still having issues with your sound man. I had a similar problem...one of my comps ran with sound other didn't. It could be that your settings need to be changed as mine did. So before you log in go to settings and then audio. I moved mine down to the one below the start setting. But just test em out one by one...that should get you your sound. I love this game...it is my type of thing for sure...and am definatly looking forward to full release. I was reading some of the live content discussion on the wish forums...a whole town is gone as plauge has spread through killing all the NPC's and if players don't do anything to contain it, it's gonna spread like wildfire... Now how cool is that!!

I was playin last night and a nearby city was besieged by Undead. There were two huge groups of about 30 monsters, about 60 in total. There was only about 10 or so players that got there before the server crashed, but we did a pretty good job of kiling most of them |

I watched a clip of Wish today and I wasn't that impressed overall. It just looks to me like a DAoC wannabe. ----------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- |

UO Is Nothing like wish, UO is a great game, Wish is trash |

Wish is anything but trash. Sorry its not to your liking but dont assume everyone wants a fps with a grind and a bunch of kids running around with uber sword #5. I've never played UO thats just what i heard so i may be wrong. I heard they were targeting the UO crowd. I see by your sig you play a bit so i retract that statement and accept that your correct. |

Copeland, not trying to bash your or the game(even though i didnt like it in the first couple of hours i have played) but howcome you dont think there will be uber kiddies trying to get all of l33t weapons and calling people n00bs? It seems to me that every game has them. I have to admit though, games like wish do not seem to attract as many of them as others that are less deep in their gameplay. One last thing. Why dont you think there isnt going to be a grind. In most games that do a good job of getting rid of grind, there can still be one, its just usually based on how you play. Please explain. |
|
Well there may be leet kiddies looking for uber weapons but i doubt this game will appeal to those type of players. I'm not calling EVERY other games FPS. Just the big ones that have come out recently such as EQ2 and WoW. Theres not going to be a grind because the characters are so diversified it would be crazy to grind. That and the PNC style of the game doesnt really lend itself to grindage. It's skill base and not exp based as well so i'm not sure how all that would fit in. I still have alot of exploring to do. This is just my opinion. I dont have a magic 8 ball telling me its all true and as you can tell by the title of the post i've only played it for 3 hours in beta LOL. Most games get rid of the grind by speeding up the exp system. But all in all its just a shorter grind. I supoose in some ways you could label some things in Wish a grind but its a much more laid back game. Speed is not the essence of the game. I dont want to generalize but this seems like a game for mature RPG players who like to take it slow and enjoy the game around them. |

Good response, Copeland. You are truly a respectable member of these boards. Thank you. As far as Wish being like UO? The skill system is very similar in that your stats only increase as your appropriate skills do. The gameplay is similar only in that it is PnC. The combat in Wish is much more interactive and I personally prefer it to UO/EQ sandwich-style combat. Wish may not make all the griefers happy like UO did, but will have PvP content, which is enough for me. |

UO didn't have any sanwhich combat whatsoever. And I feel like the combat in UO was ruined with the introduction of actual "special moves." Very trashy and cliched on EA's part. |

There is a problem that a lot of people have been having with sound drivers, including me. All you have to do is do a google search for Miles 2d, download that, install it and youll get (or should) a big performance boost. Althoguh your graphics card isnt all that great either though... so you may not get as big a boost. |

make sure to post when it helps please so i can give it a try too, everything for a perfomance boost altough i am not having to much problems with the sound and i have a ati radeon 9600 so that's able to handle the minimum requirements.

Wish is a potentially great game seriously hampered by one horrible interface (I don't just mean the badly done PnC movement, but that is the most egregious example), bad network lag, choppy performance and "functional" graphics (this bothers me the least, but screenshots do sell games). If they really work hard at it we might just have a minor classic. |
|
Everything you mention outside of the PnC movement is exactly why they have beta :) Don't worry the devs of this game are the best i've seen yet and i'm very positive that by the time this game goes live it will be flawless or damn close. Wish will most definately be an RPG classic. |
