At the beginning of 2014 if I had to project what I would look forward to the most in 2015 Shroud of the Avatar and Pathfinder Online would have both been on that list. So what changed? This week I'm checking in on the development of Pathfinder Online and I'll talk about why it missed my list of most anticipated for 2015.

  • Early Enrollment to Begin Today & Exclusive Screens

    Backers and fans of Pathfinder Online will be pleased to hear that the Early Enrollment process will begin later today. Early Enrollment was delayed to allow more time for the client to pass the quality standards set by developers. In honor of today's big event, Goblinworks has sent along four exclusive new screens.   • Early Enrollment to Open December 31st

    Backers and fans of Pathfinder Online will be pleased to hear that the Early Enrollment process will begin on December 31st. Originally planned for earlier this year, the Early Enrollment was delayed to allow more time for the client to pass the quality standards set by developers. To celebrate the official end of the Alpha, Pathfinder Online alpha testers are being invited to a special event to be held on Tuesday, December 30th.

  • Extended Alpha Stress Testing to Begin September 25th

    Pathfinder Online's Ryan Dancey has posted a new update to inform early adopters that the alpha stress test will begin on Thursday, September 25th. All players with Alpha, Early, Explorer or Open Enrollment will be able to participate in the Stress Test. The alpha is expected to last four weeks with early enrollment alpha testing to start on October 23rd.

  • Early Enrollment Alpha Delayed

    Slated to begin later this week, Pathfinder Online Early Enrollment players will have to wait a bit longer for the commencement of the first alpha tests. The news was delivered via a short notice on the Pathfinder Online site earlier today.

  • Alpha Stress Test Announced

    Open, Explorer, Early and Alpha access patrons (and anyone who already has an alpha invite) for Pathfinder Online will get a chance to see the game first hand thanks to the just-announced alpha stress test that is supposed to take place on Monday, September 22nd.

  • Early Enrollment Delayed to September 22nd

    Pathfinder Online's Early Enrollment is being delayed slightly from September 15th to September 22nd. According to the latest blog post, the delay is in response to allow more time to polish some features and include others. Additionally, the team lost development time due to an unexpected server down time.

  • Cash Shop Functionality Detailed in New Blog

    The Pathfinder Online site has been updated with a new developer blog post that gives fans and backers a look at how premium items for purchase with real-world dollars will work. Of specific note is the blog's acknowledgement of player concerns that the game will become "pay to win" and, somewhat conversely, how players who purchase these buildings can rest assured that their purchases are persistent even through "destruction".

  • Alpha is Underway, War of Towers Announced

    The Pathfinder Online site has been updated with a meaty post to announced to backers and fans that the alpha is officially underway. In addition, and with the beginning of the Early Enrollment test slated to begin soon, the team has announced a change to the land rush that players were expecting. Wanting to hand players a robust and fun way to feel that their land acquisition was meaningful, the team has created something called The War of Towers.

    Benefits are now available to backers of the Emerald Spire and the Crusader Road Novel, provided their Reward included them. At paizo.com, backers can download PDFs so long as they've previously used the Pledge Manager.
